16th SLCU-CAM Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition 2026-27 at School of Law, CHRIST University, Bengaluru [Offline; 11-13 Dec 2026; Prizes Worth Rs 1,30,000; Register by 2 Nov]

The 16th SLCU-CAM Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition 2026-27 is the flagship event of the Moot Court Society, School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru. The oral rounds will be held offline at the Bangalore Central Campus from 11 to 13 December 2026. It is a national-level competition with a strict cap of 42 teams, admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas is the title partner, SCC Online is the knowledge partner and SCC Times is the media partner. According to the brochure, the 15th edition drew more than 40 law colleges, and its final was judged by a bench that included Justice Aravind Kumar of the Supreme Court of India.

The proposition is set in the fictional Republic of Winterfell, whose laws are in pari materia with those of India. An opposition leader and his brother are arrested by the ED and NIA over foreign funds allegedly routed to a banned association. The Speaker then starts Tenth Schedule disqualification proceedings against the opposition MLAs, while an insolvency process runs against the company that received the funds. The Supreme Court of Winterfell, hearing writ petitions under Article 32, has framed four questions:

• Whether arrest and detention under Section 19 PMLA and the UAPA, without written grounds of arrest or a copy of the ECIR, violates Articles 21 and 22, and whether the twin conditions under Section 45 PMLA and the prima facie true test under Section 43D(5) UAPA violate Articles 14 and 21.
• Whether Tenth Schedule proceedings against the MLAs for alleged association with an organisation banned under the UAPA violate Article 14.
• Whether the expansive reading of 'connection, affiliation, association or ideological sympathies' under the UAPA violates Articles 14, 19(1)(a), 19(1)(c) and 21.
• Whether the moratorium and clean-slate provisions of the IBC override the ED's power of provisional attachment under Section 5 PMLA, and whether the PMLA prevails over the IBC.

Maintainability of the writ petitions is not in issue. Teams must argue the merits and may not introduce new or assumed facts.

• Open to students currently pursuing a 3-year or 5-year LLB at any law college, institution or university in India recognised by the Bar Council of India.
• Only one team per college, institution or university, and all members must be enrolled at the same institution.
• A team has 2 or 3 members. With two members, both are Speakers. With three, two are Speakers and one is the Researcher.
• Team composition cannot be changed after registration.
• The competition is conducted in English, and all rounds, memoranda and compendiums must be in English.

• Registration fee: Rs 4,500 per team, inclusive of GST.
• Accommodation: an additional Rs 3,500, inclusive of GST, for teams that opt for it. That makes Rs 8,000 in total for a team with accommodation.
• The fee is payable only to CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, through the university's online payment portal. Choose 'Fest', then the 16th SLCU-CAM Moot Court fee option (with or without accommodation, as applicable).
• A team that opts out of accommodation cannot ask for it later, and a team that opts in cannot later opt out for a refund.
• Registration fees are not refunded.

• Pay the fee on the university's payment portal and complete the online registration form by 2 November 2026 (23:59 hours).
• Registration is confirmed only once the fee has been paid.
• The form asks you to sign in with a Google account.
• Only 42 teams will be admitted, on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early.
• Clarifications on the Statement of Agreed Facts can be sought through the clarification form, also by 2 November 2026.

• Each team submits separate memoranda for the Petitioner/Applicant and the Respondent. Soft copies in both Word and PDF must be uploaded on the Google Form shared later, by 11:59 pm IST on 28 November 2026.
• Maximum 40 pages including all preliminary pages. Arguments Advanced may not exceed 24 pages, and the Summary of Facts may not exceed 1,000 words.
• A4, Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified. Footnotes only, in Bluebook 21st edition.
• Blue cover for the Petitioner/Applicant and red for the Respondent. Only the team code may identify the team.
• Plagiarism must stay below 15%. Any use of AI or LLM tools to prepare the memorials leads to disqualification.
• Six stitched hard copies for each side (12 in total) must be handed in on arrival for the oral rounds.

• Researcher's Test: an offline MCQ test of 25 questions on 11 December 2026. It counts only towards the Best Researcher award.
• Two preliminary rounds of 25 minutes per team, scored on a round point system that combines speaker scores, oral score difference and memorial score difference.
• The top 16 teams go on to knockout Octa-Finals, followed by the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final, with seeded power match-ups and sides decided by draw of lots.
• Electronic devices are not allowed in court halls, and revealing your identity or institution leads to disqualification.

Cash prizes totalling Rs 1,30,000 go to the Winners, the Runners-up, the Best Speaker, the Best Memorial and the Best Researcher. The organisers note that GST on all prize money will be deducted at source.
