Overview

The School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR, in collaboration with the CHRIST Law Alumni Association (CLAA), is launching the 1st Christ Law Alumni International Moot Court Competition 2026. It is an international moot open to law students from universities across India and abroad, built around the practice of mooting and the mentorship network of the law school's alumni.

The competition runs in a hybrid format: online preliminary rounds on 3 and 4 August 2026, followed by offline advanced rounds at the Delhi NCR campus in Ghaziabad on 21 and 22 August 2026. It carries a total prize pool of 1,95,000 rupees.

About the organiser

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is a multi-disciplinary institution headquartered in Bengaluru, with campuses including the Delhi NCR campus at Ghaziabad. It was conferred deemed university status in 2008 and is ranked among the top universities in India in the NIRF rankings.

The School of Law at the Delhi NCR campus has been operating since 2019. This moot is organised together with the CHRIST Law Alumni Association, which supports the school through mentorship, expert lectures and experiential workshops.

Format and rounds

The competition is decided through written memorials and oral rounds.

  • Teams prepare written submissions for both sides of the case, the Applicant and the Respondent.
  • Online preliminary rounds (Preliminary I and II) and the octa-final round are held on 3 and 4 August 2026.
  • The researcher's test, quarter-finals and semi-finals are held offline on 21 August 2026, with the finals and valedictory on 22 August 2026.
  • Each side is allotted a maximum of 35 minutes in the oral rounds, divided between the two speakers.

Who can apply

The competition is open to law students enrolled in recognised undergraduate or postgraduate law programmes at universities in India and abroad.

  • Each team consists of three members: two speakers and one researcher. A two-member team may be permitted in certain circumstances.
  • Only one team per university or institution is allowed.
  • Each team must upload a Letter of Permission from its department or university with the registration.
  • No faculty member, coach or fourth member may accompany the team.

What it costs

The registration fee is charged in two stages.

  • Online rounds: 3,500 rupees per team for Indian participants, or USD 50 for international participants.
  • Advanced rounds: 3,500 rupees per team without accommodation (4,000 rupees with accommodation) for Indian participants, or USD 80 for international participants.

Fees are paid through the official payment link provided by the organisers. The registration fee is non-refundable, and TDS is applicable on all prize amounts.

How to apply

Registration is online.

  1. Fill the official registration form with your team and university details.
  2. Upload the Letter of Permission from your department or university.
  3. Pay the applicable fee for the online rounds through the official payment link.

Registration checklist

  • Confirm all members are enrolled in a recognised UG or PG law programme.
  • Form a team of three (two speakers and one researcher); a two-member team only if permitted.
  • Check that your university is sending only one team.
  • Obtain the Letter of Permission from your department or university.
  • Register through the official form on or before 10 July 2026 (23:59 IST).
  • Pay the online-rounds fee and save the confirmation.
