About the Programme

The GNLU Forum for Tax Laws (GFTL), under the aegis of the GNLU Centre for Banking and Financial Laws (GCBFL), invites students, legal professionals, tax practitioners, academicians and other interested stakeholders to participate in the 1st Edition of the GNLU-LKS Skill Development Programme on GST: Law, Litigation and Practice, scheduled to be held from 19th to 21st September 2026 at Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar.

The programme features sessions led by partners from Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys (LKS), one of India's foremost law firms in the field of taxation. With a practice spanning advisory, compliance and litigation across the full spectrum of GST issues, from classification and valuation disputes to input tax credit, refunds and departmental proceedings, the LKS team brings first-hand experience of the practical and procedural realities of the GST regime.

About the Organisers

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar is a National Law University in Gujarat. This programme is organised by the GNLU Forum for Tax Laws (GFTL), a student-and-faculty forum operating under the aegis of the GNLU Centre for Banking and Financial Laws (GCBFL).

Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys (LKS), established in 1985, is a leading Indian law firm in taxation, with a practice covering GST advisory, compliance and litigation.

Aims of the Programme

The programme aims to provide participants with a practical understanding of GST law and litigation, with a focus on recent legal and judicial developments. It bridges the gap between classroom learning and professional tax practice through insights from experienced tax practitioners at LKS, while developing participants' practical, analytical, research and litigation skills in GST.

The programme further aims to equip participants with the skills required to analyse real-world GST issues, conduct effective legal research, and approach tax disputes from a practitioner's perspective. Through expert-led sessions and panel discussions, it covers key aspects of GST litigation and practice, including contemporary legal issues, procedural aspects, dispute resolution and practical challenges arising under the GST regime.

Who Can Apply

  • Under-graduate students from the 2nd year onwards (in a 5-year LL.B. programme) and from the 1st year onwards (in a 3-year LL.B. programme).
  • Students pursuing MBA and IPM (3rd year onwards for IPM students of the 5-year course).
  • Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, tax professionals, academicians, researchers and legal practitioners.

The registration form additionally lists LL.M. students among the eligible categories.

Seats, Mode and Selection

The total number of seats is 50 and the mode of the programme is offline, at the GNLU campus in Gandhinagar.

Selection will be based on CV evaluation, statement of purpose and demonstrated academic merit. As stated on the registration form, selection is strictly based on the evaluation of the candidate's resume and statement of purpose, and all decisions of the Centre and/or the Organising Committee pertaining to the programme, including the evaluation of applications and selection of candidates, shall be final and binding.

Certificate of Completion

A Certificate of Completion in GST, jointly issued by GNLU and LKS, will be awarded only to those participants who have 85% attendance and who secure a minimum score of 50% in the assessment test.

Registration Fee and Accommodation

The registration fees for the programme (excluding accommodation) are as follows:

  • GNLU participants: Rs 3,000 plus applicable taxes.
  • Participants from other law schools / universities: Rs 3,500 plus applicable taxes.
  • Professionals: Rs 6,000 plus applicable taxes.

Payment details will be shared separately with shortlisted candidates.

GNLU will only assist in arranging accommodation facilities for participants. Accommodation will be available at an additional charge, over and above the registration fee. Participants interested in availing accommodation may indicate their requirement during the registration process. Detailed accommodation charges and availability will be communicated after the closure of the registration form. Participants may also arrange their own place of stay; the programme brochure lists nearby hotel options in Gandhinagar and GIFT City.

How to Apply

Applications are made through the official Google Form linked below, on or before 1st September 2026. The form requires the applicant's name, email, contact number, permanent address, college or university, and current year of study or professional category.

Applicants must upload three documents, each as a single file: a verification document (college student identity card or last semester marksheet, PDF or image, maximum 10 MB), a resume (PDF, maximum 10 MB), and a statement of purpose of a maximum of 300 words (PDF, maximum 10 MB). Applicants must also indicate whether accommodation is required.
