The SVKM's NMIMS School of Law announces its inaugural 1st National Blog Writing Competition 2026, organised by Pragyan, the Research and Publication Committee of the School of Law, SVKM's NMIMS, Indore. It is conceived as a premier platform for legal discourse and invites critical analysis and scholarly reflection on the theme "Ink Against Narcotics: Perspectives on India's Drug Laws".
The regulation, enforcement and societal impact of narcotics legislation is described as one of the most critical socio-legal challenges in contemporary India. With the complexities surrounding the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the competition seeks to stimulate a robust and nuanced dialogue among emerging legal minds. The initiative aims to cultivate exceptional legal writing and research skills while generating a repository of innovative, policy-driven solutions to combat the narcotics crisis.
Participants are encouraged to move beyond traditional, purely punitive interpretations of drug laws and to critically evaluate the efficacy of current statutory frameworks, judicial pronouncements and rehabilitation policies. Contributors are invited to examine how recent judicial pronouncements navigate the balance between state security and individual human rights. The competition also encourages a deep look at the socio-economic dimensions of addiction, including rehabilitation frameworks, decriminalization debates and progressive harm-reduction policies.
The competition is open to all students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies from a recognised College/University. A participant can submit individually or in a team of not more than 2 members.
The co-author registration fee is the total fee for both authors combined, not a fee per author. Registration can be completed by scanning the QR code provided in the poster. The registration and submission deadline is 30 October 2026.
