About the competition and organiser

Pragyan, the Research and Publication Committee of the School of Law, SVKM's NMIMS, Indore (established in 2021), announces its inaugural 1st National Blog Writing Competition 2026 on the theme "Ink Against Narcotics: Perspectives on India's Drug Laws".

The competition invites critical analysis of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), its enforcement, judicial pronouncements and rehabilitation policies. Participants are encouraged to move beyond purely punitive readings of drug laws and engage with rehabilitation frameworks, decriminalisation debates, harm-reduction policies and the balance between state security and individual rights.

  • Statutory reforms and the evolution of the NDPS Act
  • Bail jurisprudence and constitutional liberties
  • Rehabilitation frameworks vs. punitive measures
  • Digital trafficking and transnational narcotics syndicates
  • Procedural safeguards and law enforcement accountability
  • Decriminalization and global drug policy comparisons
  • Socio-economic impacts of the narcotics crisis

Eligibility

Open to all students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies from a recognised Law College/University. Participants may submit individually or in a team of not more than 2 members.

Submission guidelines

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt; line spacing 1.5; justified alignment; 1 inch margins on all sides
  • Citations: hyperlinks are mandatory for all citations and sources relied upon
  • Similarity index must not exceed 10%
  • Blind review: the manuscript must not contain the author's name, institutional affiliation, contact details or any other identifying information
  • The submission must not infringe any copyright, intellectual property or third-party rights

Registration fee

  • NMIMS students: Rs 300 (single author), Rs 500 (co-authors)
  • Non-NMIMS participants: Rs 400 (single author), Rs 700 (co-authors)

The co-author fee is the total for both authors combined, not a fee per author.

Prizes and certificates

The brochure promises cash prizes for winners, without stating the amounts. Winners receive achievement certificates and all participants receive participation certificates.

How to apply

Registration and submission are both done through the official Google Form (the QR code in the brochure leads to it). Signing in with a Google account is required to upload the manuscript. The last date for registration and submission is 20 October 2026.

Results

Results will be released in the first week of November 2026.
