The Chair on Consumer Law at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru works on research, teaching, advocacy and outreach in consumer rights and consumer protection jurisprudence, under the aegis of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. Its student-led outreach initiative, the Consumer Law Awareness Programme (CLAP), runs campaigns, workshops, publications and creative competitions to make consumer law accessible to the public.
Through its 1st National Online Poster Making Competition, themed "Design for Awareness. Create for Change.", the Chair invites students and young creators from across India to translate contemporary marketplace realities - e-commerce, digital payments, algorithmic recommendations, influencer marketing and cross-border transactions - into visual communication. Participants design an original poster that raises awareness about a consumer protection issue, explains a consumer right or remedy, or calls for more responsible and informed consumption in a way that is visually compelling, factually sound and accessible to a lay audience.
Participants may choose any one sub-theme connected to consumer protection, including but not limited to:
Entries on any other genuine, contemporary consumer protection theme will also be considered, provided the relevance of the theme is evident from the poster.
The competition window opens on 15 August 2026, when the registration and submission portal goes live, and closes on 30 September 2026 at 11:59 PM IST. Entries must be submitted only through the official online submission form linked from the NLSIU and CLAP pages; the brochure notes that the link is circulated on NLSIU and CLAP social media and email channels closer to the opening date.
Along with the poster file, participants must submit their full name, contact number and email, institution or organisation name, a 2-3 line description of the poster's message, and a self-declaration of originality. An acknowledgement email follows a successful submission; anyone who does not receive it within 48 hours should write to the Chair. No entries are accepted after the deadline and no extensions will ordinarily be granted.
All entries are evaluated by a Jury constituted by the Chair on Consumer Law, NLSIU, whose decision is final and binding. The organisers reserve the right to withhold or limit the number of prizes if entries do not meet the expected standard, and to disqualify any entry that violates the guidelines.
All winners receive a Certificate of Excellence from the Chair on Consumer Law, NLSIU. Select entries may also receive a Certificate of Merit and be featured on the official platforms and consumer awareness publications of NLSIU and CLAP. A Certificate of Participation is issued to every participant who submits a compliant entry, on request.
Winners are felicitated on National Consumer Day, 24 December 2026, at the Consumer Law Day event tentatively being organised by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. That date, venue and format are tentative and will be confirmed closer to the event. Winners make their own travel and accommodation arrangements to attend; where a winner cannot attend in person, the organisers will arrange delivery of the prize and certificate at their discretion.
A total prize pool of ₹22,000, plus certificates for participants.
