Think India, in collaboration with National Law University, Delhi, is organising the 1st National Trial Advocacy Competition on 08-09 August 2026 at the NLU Delhi campus, Dwarka, New Delhi. The competition is built around a criminal law proposition and is designed to test participants' trial advocacy skills through examination-in-chief, cross-examination, and oral pleadings in a simulated trial setting.
The competition is open to all students actively enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws programme, whether the Five-Year Integrated LL.B. or the Three-Year LL.B. course, at any recognised law college, school, or university in India.
Each team shall comprise a maximum of four (4) members: two (2) Speakers and two (2) Researchers-cum-Witnesses. Both Speakers conduct the oral pleadings and examination of witnesses, while the Researchers-cum-Witnesses assist in research and briefing and perform the role of witnesses. Only one (1) team is permitted per institution.
The registration fee is INR 6,000 per team (inclusive of GST), covering food but not accommodation, and is non-refundable. Registration follows a two-tier process: teams first submit the provisional registration Google Form, and shortlisted teams are then notified by email to complete final registration and payment. The number of slots is limited and allocated by the Organising Committee.
Awards shall be conferred for the Winning Team, Runners-Up Team, Best Student Advocate, Best Memorial, and Best Witness. Prize money and/or internship opportunities for these categories are to be announced on the official social media handles of the competition.
Interested teams must complete the provisional registration Google Form by 20 July 2026 using their official college email ID or a recognised student association email ID. Read the Rulebook and Moot Proposition available on the official Linktree before registering.
