The Young Legal Researchers Conference (YLRC), organised by the Faculty of Law of Hasselt University, is a recurring international platform that brings together early-career legal researchers to present and discuss their work across all fields of law. The 7th edition will be held in person on Friday, 4 December 2026 at the university's city campus in Hasselt, Belgium.
The 2026 edition is themed “Law under Pressure: Resilience, Resistance, and Reinvention in Challenging Times”, inviting young researchers to examine how law responds to, withstands and reinvents itself amid contemporary challenges.
Submissions are welcome across all areas of law that fit within the overarching theme, including:
Researchers are also welcome to propose topics beyond these examples, provided they relate to the conference theme.
The conference is open to young / early-career legal researchers (including PhD candidates and equivalent early-stage researchers). Abstracts must be submitted in English.
