About the organiser

Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus is part of India's leading educational group, with a legacy in education spanning over two decades. The group's campuses are spread over 1200 acres and include 11 universities, 25 schools and pre-schools, over 150 institutions and 10 overseas campuses across London, the USA, Singapore, Mauritius, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, China (Beijing and Nanjing) and Romania, serving 150,000 students across more than 300 programmes in over 60 disciplines from pre-school to PhD.

The Lucknow Campus is a 40-acre hi-tech campus with 200 advanced laboratories, air-conditioned amphitheatre-style classrooms, a library holding over 65,000 books and 17,000 journals and reference works, and an on-campus hostel for 2,000 students. Amity Law School at the Lucknow Campus is headed by Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Kumar Chandola, Director, who chairs this competition.

About the event

After the successful conduct of seven previous editions, Amity Law School, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus presents the 8th edition of the Amity Quiz on Contemporary Law (AQCL) 2026 on 3rd September 2026.

The organisers state that the event will be conducted on a massive scale and may witness vigorous competition among students from different programmes, namely the 5-year B.A. LL.B. and the 3-year LL.B. This year the event will be conducted in offline mode at the Lucknow Campus.

Law colleges from across India are invited. The stated object of the competition is to celebrate the spirit of contemporary legal subjects such as constitutional law, cyber law, IPR, international law, environmental law and human rights, so that advocates of the coming generation take pride in their chosen profession and develop respect towards the country.

Theme of the event

In an era of rapid technological, social and economic transformation, the law must continuously evolve to address emerging challenges and safeguard contemporary values. Contemporary law reflects this evolution by responding to several issues that make legal awareness more relevant.

The 8th Amity Quiz on Contemporary Law (AQCL) 2026 provides a platform for participants to test their knowledge of recent legal developments, landmark judicial decisions and contemporary legal issues. By promoting critical thinking, legal awareness and informed dialogue, the competition aims to inspire future legal professionals and responsible citizens to engage meaningfully with the ever-evolving legal landscape.

Quiz domains

Questions will be drawn from the following domains:

  • Indian Constitution and Fundamental Rights
  • Cyber Laws and Online Safety
  • Rights of Women and Children
  • Environmental Law and Climate Justice
  • Consumer Protection and Everyday Laws
  • Current Legal Affairs (India and World)
  • Basic Legal Terminologies and Maxims
  • Data Privacy and Technology Laws
  • Other related topics

Who can participate

  • Students pursuing 3-year or 5-year law courses are eligible to participate.
  • Any number of students may participate from the same institution, and there is no limit on the number of students from a single institute.
  • This is not a team-based competition. Each student must participate individually, and only one entry per participant is allowed.

Rounds and format

Preliminary / elimination round: each participant will be given a question paper containing 50 MCQs, with a time limit of 45 minutes. There will be no negative marking. A cut-off list will be prepared and 50% of the students will qualify for the second round.

Semi-final round: conducted in MCQ mode and consisting of 25 questions, with negative marking of 0.25 per question and a time limit of 30 minutes.

Final round: each participant will be asked 10 objective questions in an audio-visual format, with one minute allotted for each question. Tie-breaker rounds will be conducted in the event of a tie.

The preliminary and semi-final rounds will consist of MCQs and True/False statements, while the final round will include audio-visual questions.

General rules

  • Participants may not be replaced once they have registered.
  • Students must carry their college ID cards, or a letter of approval signed by the Head of Institution of their respective institutions.
  • Participants will not be allowed to use mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets or devices.
  • Participants will be assigned a unique identification code for the competition. Allocation of identification codes is subject to the final decision of the Core Committee.
  • The decision of the Core Committee will be final and will not be subject to any change.
  • Dress code: female participants should wear business formal attire, Western formal attire or Indian formal attire in black and white; male participants should wear business formal or Western formal attire in black and white.
  • The registration fee is non-refundable.

Registration fee and how to register

Registration opened on 1st August 2026 (00:00 hrs) and the last date for registration is 28th August 2026 (23:59 hrs).

Fee: Amitians pay no registration fee. Non-Amitians pay INR 590 (INR 500 + 18% GST), payable electronically. The registration fee is non-refundable.

Register through the official Amity events registration form for AQCL 2026 linked below. The registration will be deemed completed only when the e-form along with the payment receipt has been mailed to the official email ID.

Each participant must confirm their registration by sending an email to amitylawschoolaqcl@gmail.com with the subject line "Registration for the 8th Amity Quiz on Contemporary Law (AQCL) 2026". The contents of the mail must include the name of the participant, contact number and a statement of successful submission of the form. These details must be sent only to the official mail ID.

Certificates, accommodation and travel

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to those students who participate in the competition and attend the valedictory session. The winner, first runner-up, second runner-up and the two consolation prize awardees will be provided with a certificate of merit. No certificate will be provided in case of absentia.

No accommodation, travel or stay arrangements will be provided. Participants are required to make their own arrangements. The organisers state that they shall not be held responsible or liable for any loss, damage, accident, injury or unforeseen circumstances arising during travel or stay. Pick and drop service will not be provided to participants by the University.

Please note that terms and conditions apply to the cash prizes, including the deduction of 18% tax.
