Each year the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers (ACCFSL) seeks to recognise written contributions to the field of U.S. consumer financial services law through its Annual Writing Competition. The College, founded in 1996, is a professional association of lawyers particularly skilled and experienced in consumer financial services matters. The entries now invited are for the 2027 competition.
Awards also include a certificate or other token of recognition and, if applicable, travel expenses to attend the College's annual dinner (if held, typically in conjunction with the Spring Meeting of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association). Depending on the quality of submissions, awards may be made in all, some or none of the three categories in any year.
Eligible entries must discuss some aspect of U.S. consumer financial services law. Topics that relate principally to securities regulation, bankruptcy, insurance, or the safety and soundness aspects of banking regulation are not eligible, but works on subjects within these (or other) areas will be considered if they bear directly on U.S. consumer financial services law.
The official competition page does not mention any entry fee.
Entries for the 2027 competition should be submitted by email to Lynette I. Hotchkiss, Esquire, Writing Competition Chair, at lynette.hotchkiss@lendingpad.com. The email link on the official page also addresses jheckhaus@counselorlibrary.com. The deadline for entry is 1 November 2026.
