Admission 2026-27 to Four One-Year Hybrid PG Diploma Programmes at NUSRL Ranchi (IPR, Child Rights & Child Protection, Corporate Law, Mines & Minerals Laws; Last Date Extended to 15 October)

The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, established by the State Legislature of Jharkhand, has opened admissions to its one-year Post Graduate Diploma Programmes for the 2026-27 session. By an admission notification dated 15 September 2026 (Ref. NUSRL/RNC/2026/0822), the Registrar has extended the last date to apply to 15 October 2026.

The diplomas are run in hybrid mode, with classes held on weekends and holidays, and are pitched at students, working professionals, academics and practitioners who want focused training in a specialised area of law within the academic setting of a National Law University.

• Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights: patents, trademarks, copyright and related rights, industrial designs, geographical indications, trade secrets, IP licensing and technology transfer, IP valuation, IP in the digital environment, IP and competition law, TRIPS, and IP enforcement and dispute resolution.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Child Rights & Child Protection: constitutional and legal protection of children, the UNCRC, the juvenile justice system, the POCSO Act, child labour and child marriage laws, adoption and foster care, trafficking and missing children, online safety, child mental health, institutional and alternative care, and child-friendly justice.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Law & Business Governance: company law, partnership firms and LLPs, one person companies, restructuring, capital markets and SEBI regulation, consumer protection, corporate governance and CSR, drafting of commercial contracts, ADR, and mergers, acquisitions and corporate insolvency.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Mines & Minerals Laws: the constitutional framework for mineral development, the MMDR Act, 1957, mineral concession rules and the auction regime, mining leases and exploration, coal laws, environmental and forest laws, land acquisition and rehabilitation, mine safety, sustainable mining and ESG, illegal mining, mining contracts, and arbitration of mining disputes.

Each programme ends with a research project or dissertation.

• Duration: one year
• Mode: hybrid, as stated in the University's admission notification
• Class timing: weekends and holidays, so the programmes can be taken alongside a job
• Attendance: as per the University's rules
• Seats: limited in each programme

Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised University are eligible. A law degree is not required. Admission is granted as per the rules and regulations of NUSRL, Ranchi, and selection is made on merit and the availability of seats.

The programme material names the intended audience for each diploma: law graduates and advocates, judicial officers, police officers and Child Welfare Committee members for Child Rights; company secretaries, chartered accountants, cost accountants and compliance officers for Corporate Law; engineers, science graduates, patent agents and IP professionals for IPR; and mining engineers, geologists, environmental professionals and executives of Coal India Ltd. and other PSUs for Mines & Minerals Laws.

• Application fee: Rs 500, paid by bank transfer or QR code at the time of applying. The payment receipt and the transaction number or UTR must be uploaded in the application form.
• Programme fee: Rs 35,000 (as prescribed by the University), payable separately upon confirmation of admission.

Applications are made through the University's online application form. The form asks for:

• Personal information, category and a photograph
• Permanent and correspondence addresses, mobile number and email
• Class 10, Class 12 and graduation details
• Employment details (optional)
• The diploma programme applied for, and any preferred specialisation
• Proof of the Rs 500 application fee payment and the transaction number or UTR
• Uploads of graduation mark sheets, degree certificate, identity proof, passport-size photograph, and, where applicable, experience and category certificates
• A signed declaration

Incomplete applications, and those received after the last date, will not be considered.

The Registrar's notification dated 15 September 2026 extends the last date to apply to 15 October 2026. However, when checked on 27 September 2026, the online application form was still set to close automatically on 30 September 2026 at 11:59 PM IST. Candidates should apply before 30 September to be safe. Anyone who finds the form closed before 15 October should write to pgdiploma@nusrlranchi.ac.in and cite the extension notice.
