Advanced Certificate Programme in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics at CNLU Patna with C-DAC Patna (Blended, 21 November - 20 December 2026, Fee Rs 18,000-24,000)

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, through its Centre for Cyber Security & Digital Forensics (CSDFC), is running a 60-hour Advanced Certificate Programme in Cyber Security & Digital Forensics in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Patna. Admissions opened on 5 September 2026.

The programme is delivered in blended mode over 30 days spread across five weekends (Saturday and Sunday), from 21 November to 20 December 2026. It combines technical, legal, investigative and governance perspectives, and is aimed at building practical cyber defence and digital investigation skills rather than classroom theory alone. All sessions are recorded and made available for later access.

The brochure identifies the following target participants:

• Undergraduate and postgraduate students, including law students and engineering or computer science students
• IT professionals and cyber security practitioners
• Police officers and investigators, prosecutors and judicial officers
• Government officials and faculty members
• Compliance, audit and risk professionals

Applicants should possess any one of the following:

• A graduate or undergraduate qualification in any discipline
• Professional standing in government or industry
• Service as police personnel
• Service as a judicial officer
• Employment as a faculty member
• Final-year student status, subject to institutional norms

No prior programming experience is mandatory, though basic computer literacy is recommended.

The 60-hour curriculum is organised into eight modules:

• Cyber Security Foundations
• Networking & Network Security
• Ethical Hacking & Penetration Testing
• Malware Analysis & Incident Response Using Reverse Engineering
• Digital Forensics
• Cyber Crime Investigation & OSINT
• Cyber Laws, Privacy & Governance Laws, ISO/IEC 27001 and the DPDP Act
• Capstone Exercise & Assessment

On completion, participants are expected to be able to conduct basic vulnerability assessments, perform network reconnaissance and traffic analysis, investigate cyber incidents using accepted forensic methodologies, acquire and preserve digital evidence, apply OSINT techniques, and prepare professional cyber investigation and forensic reports.

Practical exposure is built around WHOIS and DNS work, C-DAC Truetraveller, C-DAC forensic tools and Advik. Offline participants complete hands-on laboratory exercises at CNLU, while online participants observe live demonstrations and take part in guided activities using freely available tools in a virtual lab environment.

Teaching runs through expert lectures, hands-on laboratory exercises, live demonstrations, case studies, group discussions, gamified learning, simulated cyber incident investigations, a capstone project and continuous assessment. Faculty are drawn from CNLU, C-DAC, industry cyber security professionals, digital forensics practitioners, law enforcement officers and cyber law specialists.

Evaluation is spread across practical exercises, assignments and case studies, the capstone project and a final assessment.

Participants who complete the programme and secure 50 per cent or more marks in the assessment will be awarded a Certificate in Advanced Cyber Security & Digital Forensics, jointly issued by Chanakya National Law University, Patna and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Patna, subject to institutional approvals.

The programme fee depends on the mode of participation:

• Offline (on-campus) participant: Rs 24,000
• Online (live) participant: Rs 18,000

The fee covers tuition, digital learning resources, practical sessions where applicable, assessments and certification, and is payable during the application process.

Applications are made through the CNLU admissions portal. Register on the portal with your basic details, complete the application form with academic and personal information, and pay the fee online. Documents are then verified by the admissions team, after which the University issues official confirmation.

CNLU notes that a seat is confirmed only once the programme fee is paid in full and official confirmation has been received from the University.
