National Law University Delhi, Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi 110078, was established in 2008 by Act No. 1 of 2008 of Delhi. The University conducts the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) at the all-India level for admission to its Undergraduate and Postgraduate law programmes.

By its notification dated 23 July 2026, the University announced that AILET 2027 will be held on Sunday, 13 December 2026 from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM for admission to the Five-Year B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and the LL.M. programmes for the academic year 2027-28. The Admission Announcement and the online application forms have been live on the University website since 7 August 2026.

Programmes on offer and seat matrix

B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), Five-Year Undergraduate Programme: total 110+10 seats. 110 seats are filled on AILET merit; 5 seats each are reserved for Foreign Nationals and for OCI/PIO candidates for direct admission on merit.
LL.M. (One Year), Non-Residential Postgraduate Programme: total 70+10 seats. 70 seats are filled on AILET merit; 5 seats each are reserved for Foreign Nationals and for OCI/PIO candidates for direct admission on merit.
Additional supernumerary seat: one seat for Kashmiri Migrants.

Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates are exempted from appearing in AILET. For the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme they should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.

For category-wise reservation, the seat matrix, admit cards, eligibility criteria and the pattern of the test, the University directs candidates to its AILET portal.

Eligibility

B.A.LL.B. (Hons.): Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 system) or an equivalent examination with 45% marks; 42% for OBC candidates and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Candidates appearing for the Class 12 annual examination in 2027 are eligible to apply.
LL.M. (One Year): LL.B. or an equivalent law degree with 50% marks; 45% for SC/ST candidates and Persons with Disabilities. Candidates appearing for the final year LL.B. annual examination in 2027 are eligible to apply.
Foreign Nationals / OCI / PIO (direct admission): a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate, and 50% for reserved categories such as SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities.

Application fee

General application fee: ₹3,000 (Rupees Three Thousand only).
SC/ST candidates and Persons with Disabilities (PwD): ₹1,000 (Rupees One Thousand only).
SC/ST candidates and women candidates who are Below Poverty Line (BPL) are exempted from payment of the online application fee.

Test centres

AILET 2027 will be conducted as a centre-based examination in the following 32 cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Dehradun, Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gorakhpur, Gurugram, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hisar, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.

If the number of candidates at any test city is less than 200, a test centre will not be created in that city and the candidate will be allotted a test city as per their second or third preference.

How to apply

Applications are accepted online only, through the AILET portal at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. Candidates register a profile with their name, email address and application type, then log in to complete the form for the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) or the LL.M. programme and pay the applicable fee online.

The last date for submission of online application forms is Tuesday, 10 November 2026. For candidates applying under the Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO categories, the last date is 30 April 2027. Admit cards are scheduled to be issued from 30 November 2026.

Refund policy for University fees

The counselling fee is fully refunded if a candidate exits the admission process.
If the candidate proceeds with admission, the counselling fee is adjusted against the total payable fee.
In case of withdrawal of admission, the entire fee paid by the candidate, including the counselling fee, is refunded in accordance with UGC guidelines issued from time to time.

Other programmes and a caution from the University

AILET 2027 covers only the Five-Year B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and the one-year LL.M. programmes. The University will separately conduct the All-India Entrance Test (AIET) on 2 May 2027 for the Postgraduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP, two years) / MA / LL.M. in Insolvency Law and Restructuring (one year), the Joint Master's / LL.M. Programme in Intellectual Property Law and Management (one year), the LL.M. in Digital Technology, Policy and Governance (one year), and the Ph.D. Programme. The detailed AIET 2027 notification is to be issued in January 2027 and its online application forms will open in the second week of January 2027.

The University states that it has not authorised any agent or agency for admission, that no payment should be made to any unauthorised person, and that any complaint of this kind should be reported to admission@nludelhi.ac.in.
