About Army Law College, Pune

Army Law College, Pune is an institution of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). It is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and approved by the Bar Council of India and the Government of Maharashtra. The college runs five-year integrated BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes and is a permanently non-aided college. The campus is at Kanhe on the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway (NH-4), about an hour from Pune city.

Posts and vacancies

Applications are invited for the following four posts for the BBA LLB and BA LLB curriculum, on the eligibility prescribed by the UGC, SPPU and the Bar Council of India.

  • Assistant Professor (Law), Regular: 1 post
  • Assistant Professor (Law), Contractual: 2 posts
  • Placement Officer, Contractual: 1 post

Assistant Professor (Law): qualification and preferred specialisations

Candidates must hold an LLM with NET or SET, or a PhD in Law. Eligibility requirements prescribed by the UGC, SPPU and the Bar Council of India apply to both the regular and the contractual posts.

Placement Officer: detailed requirements

Essential qualification. A Bachelor's degree, preferably LLB or MBA in HR or Marketing.

Technical skills.

  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic data analytics for preparing annual placement reports
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and other professional networking platforms

Experience.

  • 2 to 5 years in placement coordination, HR, recruitment or legal academic administration
  • Experience in interfacing with law firms and legal employers (preferable)
  • Strong connections in the legal field (preferable)

Legal industry knowledge.

  • Good understanding of the types of legal employers, including Tier-1 law firms, mid-size firms, LPOs, corporate legal departments, litigation chambers and NGOs
  • Knowledge of legal industry trends, legal careers and professional ethics (preferable)

Other essential requirements.

  • Willingness to travel for outreach meetings
  • Flexibility to work beyond college timings during placement drives
  • Strong follow-up capability with employers
  • Coordinating alumni networking
  • Ex-servicemen with a clean disciplinary record and the requisite experience are eligible

Pay and service conditions

  • Assistant Professor (Law), Regular: as per UGC and AWES norms
  • Assistant Professor (Law), Contractual: Rs 57,700 consolidated
  • Placement Officer: Rs 80,000 consolidated

Service conditions and pay are as per UGC and AWES norms. Regular faculty are engaged on a permanent basis subject to satisfactory completion of a one-year probation period. A contractual appointment is initially for one year and may be extended to two years, with performance reviewed after successful completion of a six-month probation period.

Selection process

Interviews for the regular posts will be conducted by the Selection Committee of Savitribai Phule Pune University. For contractual and ad hoc posts, interviews will be conducted by a Local Selection Committee detailed by the ALC management.

The date of interview will be communicated to eligible candidates separately. Candidates must carry all relevant original documents along with two passport size photographs on the date of the interview. No TA or DA is admissible for attending the interview.

The CV or biodata must follow the prescribed format: Annexure I for faculty posts and Annexure II for the Placement Officer. Both formats are part of the advertisement and are available on the college website.

Applicants for the teaching posts must write the subject line as either "Application for Asst Prof (Law) - Regular" or "Application for Asst Prof (Law) - Contractual".

Documents to enclose

The Annexure I biodata format for faculty requires the following attachments:

  • SSC or HSC marksheet showing date of birth
  • Copies of graduation, post-graduation, MPhil and PhD qualifications, with the MPhil or PhD award certificate in accordance with the UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 and their subsequent amendments
  • NET with JRF, NET, SLET or SET passing certificate
  • Copies of research papers published in peer reviewed or UGC listed journals, with ISBN details
  • Experience letters issued by the appointing institute or authority, stating the period and type of appointment
  • Proof of post-doctoral experience, and details of international, national or state level awards

The Annexure II format for the Placement Officer requires educational qualification documents, experience letters from the appointing institute or firm, and, for ex-servicemen candidates, a copy of the Discharge Book, Record of Service and Release Medical Board.
