Assistant Director (Prosecution) and Assistant Public Prosecutor Recruitment at Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Itanagar (5 + 18 Posts)

The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), Itanagar, has issued Advertisement No. 06/2026 (No. PSC-R(B)/04/2025, dated 9 September 2026) for the Common Recruitment Examination for Group-A and Group-B, Gazetted (Technical) Posts-2026 (Part-II). The advertisement covers posts under the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, including two law posts in the Department of Home:

• Assistant Director (Prosecution): 5 posts, Group-A, Level 10 (Rs 56,100 - 1,77,500 per month) plus Special Pay of Rs 1,000 per month only. No post reserved for PwBD.
• Assistant Public Prosecutor: 18 posts, Group-B, Level 8 (Rs 47,600 - 1,51,100 per month). No post reserved for PwBD.

The same advertisement also covers Finance and Accounts Officer/Treasury Officer and Sub Treasury Officer posts in the Department of Finance, which are not covered in this listing.

• Assistant Director (Prosecution): Bachelor of Law from a recognised university with minimum 7 (seven) years of active practice as an advocate in criminal courts, OR experience as a Magistrate of the First Class.
• Assistant Public Prosecutor: Bachelor of Law from a recognised university with minimum 7 (seven) years of experience in criminal law practice.
• Applicants for both posts must submit their 7-year experience certificate, or the appointment order as Magistrate of First Class, while filling the online application form, failing which the candidature will be rejected.

Under Government Notification F.No.AR-33/17/2026-SECT-1-AR dated 26 August 2026, every candidate must satisfy all of the following:

• Permanent residence: a citizen of India and an inhabitant of Arunachal Pradesh holding a valid Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Arunachal Pradesh.
• Indigenous status: an original inhabitant of Arunachal Pradesh holding an Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) certificate issued by the competent authority.
• Language: able to speak any of the indigenous tribal languages of Arunachal Pradesh and possess working knowledge of the local indigenous tribes.

• Not less than 21 and not more than 35 years of age as on the last date of receipt of the online application form, stated in the advertisement as 12 October 2026.
• Upper age limit relaxed by up to 5 years for APST candidates and up to 15 years for APST PwBD candidates.
• Age concession for regular State Government employees as per Government rules; such employees must submit their appointment order as proof of 3 years of continuous regular service in the same line or allied cadre.
• Date of birth is accepted only as entered in the Matriculation certificate.

• Written examination: General English and General Studies (Objective), 150 marks; Paper-I Core Criminal Laws (Descriptive), 150 marks; Paper-II Constitutional Law and Other Special Legislations (Descriptive), 150 marks; Viva-Voce, 50 marks. Total 500 marks.
• To qualify for viva-voce, a candidate must score an aggregate 33% in the written examination with at least 20% in each paper (PwBD: 20% aggregate and 10% in each paper). About 3 times the number of vacancies are called for interview.
• If applicants exceed the requisite ratio, the Commission will hold a Recruitment Test (Objective Type) of 200 marks on the concerned subject as a screening test only; about 12 times the number of posts will then be admitted to the written examination. Screening marks do not count towards the final merit.
• The written examination and the recruitment test (if any) will be held in the Itanagar Capital Region.

Rs 200 (Rupees two hundred only), payable online only. PwD candidates are exempted from the application fee under Section 19 of the Arunachal Pradesh Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2018.

• Register first for One Time Registration (OTR) on the APPSC website, https://appsc.gov.in. Candidates already registered in OTR can log in directly with their user ID and password and fill the online form.
• Submit only a single application. If multiple applications are submitted, only the one with the highest Registration ID (RID) will be accepted, and the fee paid against one RID is not adjusted against another.
• Upload: signature (40-50 kb, jpg), recent colour passport photo on white background (40-100 kb, jpg), photo ID, APST certificate, PRC, Bachelor's degree certificate, mark sheets of all semesters, the 7-year experience certificate (or Magistrate First Class appointment order for Assistant Director), Matriculation certificate for age proof, and where applicable the disability certificate, NOC from the head of department and age-relaxation documents.
• Last date: extended by the corrigendum of 7 October 2026 to 5:00 PM IST on 27 October 2026 (originally 1700 hours on 12 October 2026).

By a corrigendum dated 7 October 2026 (No. PSC-R(B)/04/2025), APPSC modified the educational qualification for the Finance and Accounts Officer/Treasury Officer and Sub-Treasury Officer posts in Advertisement No. 06/2026 and, in view of that modification, extended the last date of online application for the whole advertisement till 5:00 PM on 27 October 2026. The corrigendum is to be read along with an earlier corrigendum dated 1 October 2026, which the APPSC website lists as concerning the educational qualification for the Sub-Treasury Officer post.
