Assistant Professor (Contract) at School of Legal Studies, CUSAT Kochi [3 Posts]

The School of Legal Studies is the law faculty of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), a State university at Kochi, Kerala. The law school began under the University of Kerala in 1962 and became part of Cochin University in 1971, which makes it one of the oldest law schools in the country.

The School runs the five-year integrated B.B.A. LL.B. and B.Com. LL.B. programmes, the LL.M. and full-time and part-time Ph.D. work, with teaching and research concentrated in constitutional law, criminal law, environmental law and intellectual property law.

The Registrar, CUSAT has invited applications in the prescribed format for appointment as Assistant Professor (on Contract) in the School of Legal Studies under Advertisement No. Ad.D2/SLS/contract/2024 dated 18 July 2026.

Three vacancies are notified in the School:

• Assistant Professor (Contract) in Law: 2 posts
• Assistant Professor (Contract) in Commerce/Management: 1 post

Both posts are advertised through the same notification, listed on the CUSAT recruitment portal as Sl. No. 1 (Commerce/Management) and Sl. No. 2 (Law).

• A Master's degree with 55% marks, or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed, in the concerned, relevant or allied subject from an Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR. Ph.D. degree holders may be exempted from NET as per the UGC Regulations, 2018.
• Other eligibility conditions as per the UGC Regulations, 2018.

• Assistant Professor in Law: LL.M. with UGC NET or Ph.D.
• Assistant Professor in Commerce/Management: MBA or M.Com. with UGC NET or Ph.D.

A Ph.D. is listed as the desirable qualification for the posts.

The consolidated monthly salary is Rs 47,000 for a Ph.D. holder and Rs 45,000 for the rest of the contract teachers.

The notification states that the period of appointment will be decided by the University from time to time, so no fixed contract term is specified in the advertisement.

Rs 950 for General candidates and Rs 195 for SC/ST candidates.

Payment is accepted only online, through net banking or the credit or debit cards of almost all banks. Payment by cash, cheque or demand draft will not be accepted, and the fee is not refundable.

Applications are accepted in online mode only. The application form is available on the CUSAT recruitment portal at https://recruit.cusat.ac.in, where candidates register and submit the form before the last date.

The hard copy of the online application, in the prescribed format downloaded from the portal, must then reach the Office of the Registrar along with:

• Self-attested copies of documents proving every claim made in the application, such as qualification, date of birth and reservation.
• Bio data.

The hard copy is to be sent to The Registrar, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi 682022.

• Applications not submitted in the prescribed format, or received after the prescribed last date, will be summarily rejected.
• Claims made in the application without supporting documents will not be considered.
• Claims not mentioned in the original application will not be considered at any later stage of processing.
