Overview

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, is inviting applications for a Department of Revenue Chair at the level of Assistant Professor (Law). This is a full-time, contractual teaching and research position established jointly with the Government of India's Department of Revenue.

The appointment is on a contract basis for a period of five years, extendable at the discretion of the University, with remuneration at Pay Level 10 (VII CPC). There is one (1) unreserved vacancy. Applications close on 10 July 2026.

The National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, is one of India's premier national law universities, widely regarded as a leading centre for legal education and research. The Department of Revenue Chair has been instituted in collaboration with the Government of India's Department of Revenue to advance teaching and research in revenue, taxation and allied areas of law.

The role

As the Department of Revenue Chair (Assistant Professor, Law), you would contribute to teaching, research and academic work in the areas connected with the Chair. The position carries:

  • A pay level of Level 10 as per the VII Central Pay Commission.
  • A contractual tenure of five years, extendable at the University's discretion.

Who can apply

To be eligible, you should hold:

  • A Master's Degree in Law with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) from a recognised University/Institution.
  • A 5% relaxation in marks is available for candidates in the SC/ST/Differently-abled categories (at the graduate and master's levels).
  • A 5% relaxation is also available for PhD holders who obtained their Master's degree before 19 September 1991.

No separate NET requirement, prior experience requirement or age limit has been specified in the notification.

Compensation

The position is remunerated at Pay Level 10 (VII CPC). No further salary figure is stated in the official notification.
