The Inter University Centre for IPR Studies (IUCIPRS), Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi, invites applications in the prescribed format for engagement to the post of Assistant Professor on a five-year tenure track contract basis. This is notification No. IUCIPRS/Contract Engagements/2026-27 dated 02.07.2026. A total of 7 vacancies are on offer across specialisations in Intellectual Property Rights and allied disciplines.

The 7 vacancies are distributed as follows (reservation category in brackets):
- Assistant Professor - IPR (re-notification): 2 posts (SC-1, PHC-1)
- Assistant Professor - Jurisprudence (4th re-notification): 1 post (Muslim)
- Assistant Professor - Commerce/Economics/Political Science (re-notification): 1 post (Open)
- Assistant Professor - IPR (re-notification): 1 post (ETB - Ezhavas, Thiyyas and Billavas)
- Assistant Professor - IPR: 1 post (Dheevara)
- Assistant Professor - MSc./M.Tech: 1 post (Open)

Eligibility
Minimum qualifications for all posts:
- A Master's Degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university; AND
- A Ph.D. Degree awarded in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and amendments thereto.
Post-specific additional compulsory requirements: for the Jurisprudence post, Graduation in Law and one year teaching/research experience in IPR; for the Commerce/Economics/Political Science post, one year teaching/research experience in IPR; for the MSc/M.Tech post, one year teaching/research experience in IPR or being a Registered Patent Agent. Weightage is given only for teaching/research experience related to IPR (proof required).
Pay and Tenure
Starting pay is Rs 57,700 per month (equivalent to Academic Level 10 of the UGC Pay Matrix, with annual increment). The tenure track contract appointment is for a maximum period of 5 years - the initial engagement is for one year, extendable up to 5 years based on performance. Reservation rules apply as indicated against each post.
Application Fee and Mode of Remittance
Application fee is Rs 1,000 for General and OBC candidates and Rs 500 for SC/ST/OEC candidates. Payment must be made by demand draft drawn in favour of the Director, IUCIPRS, payable at SBI, Cochin University Campus Branch. A separate application with the prescribed fee must be submitted for each post.
