Associate Professor (Law) at NLSIU, Bengaluru (4 Permanent Vacancies, Pay Level 13A as per VII CPC)

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has issued Notification No. 16/2026 dated 18 September 2026 inviting applications for the post of Associate Professor (Law) on a permanent basis.

NLSIU was established in 1987 and has been ranked first among law universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the last eight years. The University is looking for well-qualified individuals committed to teaching, scholarship and institutional service.

4 vacancies: 3 Unreserved and 1 Scheduled Caste.

Indicative subject areas cover all major law subjects, including Contracts, Property, Criminal Law, Torts, Law of Evidence, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Company Law, Labour Law, Public International Law, Human Rights, Family Law, Jurisprudence, Civil Procedure, Drafting, Environmental Law, Taxation Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Conflict of Laws, Financial Sector Regulation and International Trade Law.

• Pay structure: Level 13A, as per the VII CPC
• Appointment: Permanent, till the age of superannuation (65 years), subject to confirmation after satisfactory completion of two years' probation
• Place of work: NLSIU, Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru

Qualifications are as prescribed in Sections I and II.1 of Appendix A to the notification (per UGC Regulations, 2018):

• A Master's degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade (5% relaxation at graduate and master's level for SC, ST and differently-abled candidates; 5% relaxation for Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master's degree before 19 September 1991)
• A good academic record with a Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline
• At least eight years of teaching and/or research experience in a position equivalent to Assistant Professor in a university, college or accredited research institution/industry
• A minimum of seven publications in peer-reviewed journals and a total research score of 75 as per UGC Regulations, 2018

Foreign nationals, OCI, NRI and PIO candidates are permitted to apply; confirmation of a selected candidate's appointment is subject to the necessary visa approvals from the Government of India.

The last date is 26 October 2026, 17:00 hrs IST. There is no application fee mentioned in the notification.

• Candidates serving in Government, PSUs, Boards or Autonomous Bodies must submit a No Objection Certificate from their current employer at the time of interview, if not submitted earlier
