About the competition and the organiser

Amity Law School, Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur, is organising the AUR Moot Court Competition 2026. The competition runs in hybrid mode over two days: the preliminary and quarter-final rounds are held online on 4 November 2026 on MS Teams or Google Meet, and the semi-final and final rounds are held offline on 21 November 2026 in the Moot Court Room, D-Block 3rd floor, Amity University Jaipur Campus. The official language is English.

Amity Law School, Amity University Rajasthan, was established in 2008, is approved by the Bar Council of India and offers Ph.D., LL.M., B.A. LL.B (H), B.Com. LL.B (H) and B.B.A. LL.B (H) programmes.

Moot proposition

The proposition, In re: The Chintapur Public Safety and Interrogation Act, 2026, is set before the Supreme Court of Indiana in Special Leave Petitions and a connected Writ Petition under Article 32. It concerns a state law permitting non-consensual narco-analysis, BEOS profiling and polygraph examination on executive sanction, making the results admissible as substantive evidence and barring bail for 90 days from arrest. The issues are:

  • Maintainability of the Writ Petition and the Special Leave Petitions, including the locus standi of a human rights organisation and of an accused who has been neither charged nor released.
  • Whether compulsory scientific interrogation techniques, and the admissibility of their results, violate Articles 14, 20(3) and 21, and whether the Act can immunise the administering practitioner despite Sections 26 and 30 of the Indiana Nyaya Sanhita.
  • Validity of the 90-day bail bar and of executive rather than judicial sanction under Article 21.
  • Repugnancy with the Indiana Nyaya Sanhita, Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Sakshya Adhiniyam under Article 254 despite general Presidential assent, and whether the evidence sustains the convictions.

The laws of Indiana are in pari materia with the Constitution of India and the BNS, BNSS and BSA, 2023. The full proposition is in the official brochure.
