About the Institute and the programmes

The Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU), Ahmedabad, has opened online applications for the admission year 2027-28 to its three five-year integrated undergraduate programmes: B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.). The Institute is a constituent institution of Nirma University, a statutory university established by an Act of the Gujarat State Assembly, recognised by the UGC under section 2(f) and accredited by NAAC with Grade A+. All three undergraduate programmes are approved and recognised by the Bar Council of India.

The Institute's curriculum highlights, as listed on the admissions page, include exclusive skill labs for life-skills acquisition, specially designed clinical courses for practical and experiential learning, foreign language courses, student mentorship, a Legal-Aid Clinic and extension activities, and opportunities to take part in national and international academic events, competitions and moot courts.

Seats and categories

Total intake is 360 seats: 85% in the General Category and up to 15% in the NRI / NRI Sponsored Category, as per the rules of the Government of Gujarat. There is no management quota.

Eligibility

A candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary / Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with not less than 45% aggregate marks. Candidates who obtained the 10+2 certificate through distance or correspondence study are eligible; however, as per the Bar Council of India Legal Education Rules, 2008, applicants who obtained 10+2 through the open university system directly, without the basic qualifications for such studies, are not eligible for the five-year integrated programme.

Admission procedure: CLAT-2027

Admission to the five-year integrated programmes is based on the inter se All India merit rank of CLAT-2027. Candidates are compulsorily required to appear in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT-2027) conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities, and must also fill in the Institute of Law, Nirma University application form in addition to the CLAT form. Admission under the NRI Sponsored category is considered on the basis of the CLAT-2027 score; for genuine NRI candidates no qualifying exam is required, though preference is given to CLAT-2027. The merit list will be displayed on the Institute's website.

Application fee

The application fee is Rs 2,500 for the General Category and Rs 2,500 for the NRI / NRI Sponsored categories, payable online by credit card, debit card or net banking. Candidates applying under the NRI / NRI Sponsored quota are not considered for General Category merit; a candidate who wishes to be considered under the General Category as well must fill a separate application form with a separate application fee.

Fee structure (as published for admission year 2026-27)

The admissions page currently displays the fee structure for the admission year 2026-27, which it marks as subject to revision. Tuition fees are Rs 3,75,000 per year. One-time and other charges listed are: seminar, orientation and welcome kit Rs 1,200; refundable security deposit Rs 7,000; university enrolment fee Rs 1,000; semester-end exam, initial registration and semester grade report Rs 7,000 per year; provisional eligibility fee Rs 1,000; internship and placement facilitation charges Rs 5,000; student activity fee Rs 25,000; alumni association membership fee Rs 3,500. The total amount payable shown is Rs 4,25,700. For the NRI / NRI Sponsored category the tuition fee is US$ 7,500 per annum (inclusive of all except refundable deposits, university fees, the one-time student activity fee and the alumni fee). Scholarships

The Institute offers scholarships to undergraduate students under two schemes. Category I (merit only): the top 4 students receive Rs 2 lakh each per year, the next 5 students Rs 1.5 lakh each and another 10 students Rs 1 lakh each. Category II (merit-cum-means): 15 students whose parents' annual income is Rs 4 lakh or less receive Rs 2 lakh each per year, and 15 students whose parents' annual income is Rs 8 lakh or less receive Rs 1 lakh each. A student may benefit under only one category, renewal in later years depends on conduct, attendance and a PPI of 7.0 and above with all courses passed in the first attempt, and students admitted under the NRI / NRI Sponsored, PIO, foreign national or CIWGC categories are not eligible. Documents, hostel and campus

Along with the application form, candidates must submit the matriculation mark sheet as proof of date of birth. A migration certificate is required only for candidates who passed the qualifying examination from a board other than the Gujarat Board. NRI / NRI Sponsored applicants must additionally submit a passport (self, parent or sponsor, as applicable) and a notarised affidavit proving NRI status or, for NRI Sponsored candidates, from the sponsoring person. The University has a girls' hostel within the campus, subject to availability, and provides transport from major locations in and around Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The campus is on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) Highway, about 15 to 17 km from Ahmedabad city.

How to apply

Application is online only. Register as a new candidate on the Institute's admissions portal (admissions-il.nirmauni.ac.in) with your name, email and mobile number; the password is sent to the registered email and mobile, which should not be changed during the admission process. Fill the online form, upload the documents and pay the application fee of Rs 2,500 online. Online application forms opened on 28 September 2026 and the last date for submission of filled-up application forms is 21 December 2026. The Institute reserves the right to change these dates, so check the admissions page and your registered email regularly.

The University's admission notice warns that admissions are strictly merit based: no individual, agent or agency is authorised to influence admission decisions for money or favours, and any such communication should be reported to admissions.vigilance@nirmauni.ac.in.
