Call for Abstracts: 11th Annual Energy Transitions Conference 2027 on Energy Law and Policy [Joensuu, Finland, 25-26 February 2027]

The UEF Law School, University of Eastern Finland, in cooperation with the UEF Centre for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law (CCEEL), has opened the call for abstracts for the 11th annual Energy Transitions Conference, its 2027 energy law and policy conference. The conference is supported by the European Research Council and the Research Council of Finland.

The conference will be held in person on 25 and 26 February 2027 at the UEF campus in Joensuu, Finland.

Submissions are welcome within the following themes:

• The foundations, evolution and future directions of energy law
• The principles, concepts and objectives shaping energy law
• The interplay between energy law and other areas of law
• The role of science in law
• The role of energy law in responding to crises and disruption
• The role of law in shaping and governing energy transitions
• The relationship between energy markets, regulation and the public interest
• The implementation, enforcement and effectiveness of energy law
• Comparative approaches to energy law
• Interdisciplinary and international approaches to energy law

Submissions on the overall theme of the conference, and on any other topic relevant to energy law, are also welcome.

• Abstracts must be written in English.
• Length: 200 to 300 words.
• Include the presentation title and the name, institutional affiliation and contact details of the author(s).
• State the aim of the paper, its main points and a brief conclusion.
• No footnotes, tables or graphs.
• Include a short speaker's biography.

Thanks to the support of the conference sponsors, attendance is free of charge. The organisers state that they cannot offer financial support towards participants' travel and accommodation costs, in whole or in part.

After the conference, from 26 to 28 February 2027, participants may join the organisers at a spa resort in Koli National Park. The trip is self-funded, although complimentary transport will be provided from the UEF campus in Joensuu to Koli. Spouses are welcome to join.
