Call for Articles, Stories and Poems: Hindi Magazine “Manav Adhikar: Nayi Dishayein” (Issue 23) [Honorarium up to Rs 10,000]

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is India’s statutory apex body for the protection and promotion of human rights, constituted under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. It functions from Manav Adhikar Bhawan, C-Block, GPO Complex, INA, New Delhi 110023. Alongside its complaints and inquiry work, the Commission runs a research and publications programme that includes journals, reports and magazines in English and Hindi.

“Manav Adhikar: Nayi Dishayein” (मानव अधिकार : नई दिशाएं) is the annual Hindi magazine of the NHRC, brought out by the Commission’s Hindi Section. The Commission has issued a notice (File No. ई-21/1/2026-भाषा, released 25 August 2026) inviting original Hindi writing for the 23rd issue of the magazine. Issue 23 will be released on Human Rights Day, 10 December 2026.

The main theme of Issue 23 is “A developed India through the all-round development of the human being” (मानव के सर्वांगीण विकास से विकसित भारत). The Commission has also listed four sub-themes:

• Indian culture and the concept of human rights (भारतीय संस्कृति और मानव अधिकारों की संकल्पना)
• Environment and social harmony (पर्यावरण और सामाजिक समरसता)
• Inclusion in society of persons who have come out of Naxalism (नक्सलवाद से उबरे व्यक्तियों का समाज में समावेशन)
• Human rights in the digital age (डिजिटल युग में मानव अधिकार)

The Commission invites three forms of original Hindi writing on the theme and sub-themes above:

• Articles (आलेख)
• Stories (कहानी)
• Poems (कविता)

Writing must be original (मौलिक) and in Hindi. The notice sets no restriction on who may contribute, so the call is open to students, academics, practitioners, writers and members of the public alike.

• Entries must be in Hindi and typed in the Mangal (Unicode) font only.
• Each entry may run to a maximum of 2,000 words.
• Entries must be sent by email to adol.nhrc@nic.in.
• Entries must reach the Commission by 30 September 2026. The notice states plainly that entries received after the last date will not be considered.
• There is no submission fee or processing charge of any kind.

Selected entries will be published in the magazine, and the Commission will pay a fixed honorarium (मानदेय) for each selected piece: Rs 10,000 for an article, Rs 5,000 for a story and Rs 3,000 for a poem. The honorarium is paid on selection for publication. The notice does not describe a ranked competition or a cap on the number of pieces selected.

Send the completed entry as an email attachment to adol.nhrc@nic.in on or before 30 September 2026. Type the piece in Mangal (Unicode) font, keep it within 2,000 words, and state clearly whether it is an article, a story or a poem, along with your name and contact details. There is no online form and no registration step, so the email is the application.

Issue 23 of “Manav Adhikar: Nayi Dishayein” will be released on Human Rights Day, 10 December 2026. Past issues of the magazine are hosted on the NHRC website and are worth reading before writing, since they show the register and the length the Commission publishes.
