Overview

The Centre for Banking and Insurance Laws (CBIL) at National Law University Odisha (NLUO) invites original blog submissions for its Blog on an ongoing basis. If you have something sharp to say about banking, finance, taxation, insurance, insolvency or fintech law, this is an open, rolling platform to get your analysis read by students, scholars and practitioners.

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, so there is no single hard cut-off. Entries run between 1,500 and 2,000 words and must be your own original work. There is no fee to submit.

About the Centre for Banking and Insurance Laws (CBIL)

CBIL is dedicated to advancing research, knowledge and capacity building in Banking, Insurance, Insolvency and Fintech Laws. Backed by NLUO's academic support, the Centre blends rigorous scholarship with practical exposure. It works to nurture a culture of critical analysis, deepening understanding of policies, regulatory mechanisms and other legal domains at the state, national and international levels.

The CBIL Blog was launched as part of this mission, to foster research-driven and informed discourse on contemporary legal issues in banking, finance, taxation, insurance, insolvency and fintech laws. Through the Blog, CBIL aims to:

  • Promote academic dialogue on emerging regulatory trends
  • Encourage critical perspectives on financial and insurance law reforms
  • Provide a platform for innovative solutions to contemporary challenges
  • Build awareness among students, scholars and practitioners

Themes and sub-themes

Your blog should present insightful legal analysis, critical and contemporary perspectives, practical and policy-oriented solutions, and an examination of regulatory challenges and emerging trends. Themes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Banking Laws
  • Insurance Laws
  • Financial Regulations
  • Taxation
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy
  • Fintech and Digital Finance
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Financial Sector Reforms

Who can apply

The call is open to a broad range of contributors:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate law students
  • Research scholars
  • Academicians
  • Legal practitioners and professionals
  • Policymakers and subject-matter experts

There are no strict academic restrictions, provided your submission reflects quality research and analytical depth. Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.

Submission guidelines

  • Word limit: articles run between 1,500 and 2,000 words. If you need a relaxation in word count, write to the Centre so they can consider your request.
  • Co-authorship: a maximum of two authors per submission is allowed.
  • Originality: manuscripts already submitted or published elsewhere will not be accepted. Your submission must be your own original work, with similarity not exceeding 20%. Extensive use of AI that compromises originality is discouraged.
  • File format and naming: submit as a .doc / .docx file named in the format "Title_CBIL Blog", with the title kept to no more than 10 words.
  • Formatting: Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5. Use hyperlinks for references where possible; where endnotes are needed, follow OSCOLA (4th edition).
  • Mode of submission: all submissions must be made through the official Google Form. Entries sent by any other means will not be treated as valid.

What it costs and what you get

There is no submission fee. Accepted pieces are published on the CBIL Blog at National Law University Odisha, giving your work a credible NLU-backed platform and visibility among students, scholars and practitioners in the field.

Process and timeline

Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, so you can submit whenever your piece is ready rather than racing a fixed deadline. Prepare your blog within the word limit, run an originality check (similarity must stay under 20%), and submit through the Google Form. The Centre reviews entries and reaches out regarding publication.
