Call for Blogs: Centre for Environmental Law Blog, Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad (Rolling Submissions)

The Centre for Environmental Law was established at the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad on 17 August 2013 as part of the Institute's research-centre network. The Centre works towards environmental sustainability and equity by analysing public policy, collaborating with stakeholders on environmental research, promoting educational programmes, and coordinating student and faculty participation in environmental studies.

Alongside this blog, the Centre runs the Journal of Centre for Environmental Law and organises lectures, moots and other academic activities in the environmental and energy law space. It is headed by Dr Parna Mukherjee, with Dr C. L. Yadav as Co-Head and Dr S. P. Rathor as Advisor.

The call is issued under the theme 'Contemporary Discourses in Environmental and Energy Law'. The Centre invites writing that explores contemporary legal and policy challenges at the intersection of environmental protection and energy governance, ranging from ozone regulation and climate litigation to the just energy transition.

The indicative sub-themes are:

• Ozone Depletion and Atmospheric Protection Law
• Renewable Energy and the Just Energy Transition
• Climate Change, Carbon Markets, and Climate Litigation
• Air, Water, and Plastic Pollution Regulation
• Environmental Enforcement and Judicial Trends
• Green Finance and Sustainable Development

The sub-themes are suggestive only. Submissions need not be confined to them so long as the piece sits within environmental or energy law and policy.

The call is open to students, academicians, researchers and professionals with an interest in environmental law and policy. There is no restriction to any one institution.

Co-authorship is permitted, up to a maximum of two authors per blog. The submission form asks for the name, email address, institution or organisation and year of study of the first author, and the same details for a co-author where there is one.

• Word limit: 1,000 to 1,500 words, exclusive of footnotes
• Font: Times New Roman, size 12 for the body and size 10 for footnotes
• Line spacing: 1.5 for the body and 1.0 for footnotes
• Alignment: justified
• Citation style: Bluebook 20th edition, with hyperlinks preferred wherever a source is available online

Submissions must be the original, unpublished work of the author or authors and must not be under consideration anywhere else at the same time.

Plagiarism must not exceed 15 per cent, consistent with the UGC plagiarism policy.

The manuscript must be anonymous. Any disclosure of the identity of the author or authors, including name, institutional affiliation or professional details, whether in the body of the manuscript or in the document properties of the file submitted, is strictly prohibited. A breach of the anonymity requirement disqualifies the manuscript from the review process.

Manuscripts are reviewed by the editorial board of the Centre. The board reserves discretionary rights to suggest edits to a submission, and authors are expected to incorporate the suggested changes within the timeframe communicated to them.

Selected blogs are published on the Centre for Environmental Law's page on the official website of the Institute of Law, Nirma University, where the Centre's existing published pieces can also be read.

There is no submission or publication fee. Participation in this call is entirely free.

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. The call, titled 'Call for Blogs 2026-27' on the Centre's submission form, carries no closing date, so a manuscript can be sent in at any point during the academic year and is taken up for review as it arrives.

Submissions are accepted only through the Centre's official Google Form. The form requires the author's name, email address, institution or organisation and year of study, the co-author's details where applicable, the theme of the blog, the title, the word count, and the manuscript uploaded as a PDF file.

A Google account is needed to upload the file and submit the form. Queries may be addressed to the Centre at centenvlaw.il@nirmauni.ac.in.
