Overview

The Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, invites blog contributions for its Labour and Employment Law Blog on contemporary developments in labour and employment law. This is a rolling call, so you can submit whenever your piece is ready rather than racing a single deadline. Every submission goes through a rigorous peer-review process before it is considered for publication.

If you follow how the world of work is changing in India and beyond, this is a chance to put your thinking on a respected NLU platform and reach a readership of academics, practitioners and students.

About the organiser

The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam (Act No. 41 of 1997) of the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India.

The Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) was set up at NLIU in 2019 during the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic. It began with Mazdoor Mitra, a lockdown initiative for migrant workers, and has since grown into a multidisciplinary forum for research, analysis and discussion of labour and employment law issues emerging in India and around the world.

Theme and sub-themes

The blog welcomes critical writing on the rapidly evolving labour landscape, shaped by economic reforms, technological change, new work arrangements and shifting employment patterns. Suggested areas include:

  • Gig economy regulation and platform work classification
  • Digital labour rights
  • Implementation of the new labour codes
  • Industrial relations and collective bargaining
  • Workplace discrimination and occupational safety
  • Social security frameworks, wage regulation and labour compliance mechanisms
  • Employment disputes and emerging challenges in the modern workplace

Contributors are encouraged to engage with judicial precedents, legislative reforms and policy critiques. This is an indicative list, not an exhaustive one, so well-argued pieces on other contemporary labour and employment law questions are also welcome.
