Call for Blogs: SIBRL Blog by the Society for Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Laws, NUJS Kolkata (Rolling Submissions)

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, is a National Law University located at 12, LB Block, Sector III, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700106. The Society for Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Laws (SIBRL) is an academic society within NUJS. As the Society describes itself on its official site, it was formed to discuss the legal, socio-economic and business issues connected with the insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring sector at the national and international level, and it engages the wider community through blog posts, newsletters, online talks, workshops and short interviews with experts.

SIBRL runs a rolling call for contributions to the SIBRL Blog. The Society is looking for original, critical analysis of contemporary debates, systemic challenges and future prospects in insolvency and restructuring law, including reflections on a decade of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The blog invites submissions on insolvency, bankruptcy, restructuring and allied laws in India and abroad.

The Society asks contributors to write about something that matters to them, that they have expertise in, or that holds a significant interest for them. The tone does not have to be formally academic. A more informal or conversational register is welcome, since that is a common characteristic of blog writing. Pieces that offer critical analysis rather than a purely descriptive account of the law are preferred.

Submissions are invited from students, academicians, researchers, legal practitioners and insolvency professionals. Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors per blog.

• Word limit: contributors are asked to keep a post within 1,500 to 2,000 words. If the topic needs more room, the Society suggests breaking it into multiple posts that develop the idea, and it welcomes evolutionary blogging and regular contributors.
• Structure: outline the key points and the argument at the beginning rather than the end, and engage the reader early. Subheadings, images and graphics may be used to break up longer blocks of text, subject to copyright limitations.
• References: hyperlinks are preferred over footnotes or in-text citations. Wherever possible, provide a URL to support a claim or to point the reader to further reading, including other blogs and websites, news stories and academic articles, with open access sources preferred.

The content must be in Times New Roman, font size 12, justified, with 1.5 line spacing.

Submissions must be emailed to sibrl@nujs.edu. Every submission must carry a covering letter stating the name of the author or authors, institutional affiliation, the title and category of the submission, and a contact address including the email address and phone number. The submission itself must be sent as an MS Word (.doc) attachment with the title of the article as the file name, and the body of the submission must contain no identification of any kind, including the author's name and institutional affiliation, which belong only in the cover letter.

All posts are edited by the editorial collective so that the blog stays consistently high in quality and the published piece is engaging and intellectually rigorous. The decision of the editorial board is communicated to the author within three weeks and is final. The Blog Team follows a rolling submission policy, so there is no deadline to submit.

The Society states no submission or publication charge for the blog. Copyright in the post remains with the author. By submitting a piece for consideration, the author grants SIBRL a licence to publish it anywhere in the world, in any medium, for the full term of copyright, and agrees to public re-use of the published post. Authors may republish their posts elsewhere, and may choose to release a post under a Creative Commons licence.
