About the Blog

The Family Law Chronicle is the official blog of the Centre for Family Law (CFL), National Law University, Jodhpur. The Centre invites blog submissions on a rolling basis throughout the year.

The blog accepts original submissions on topical issues in Family Law. The Editorial Board has made clear that purely descriptive or uncritical pieces shall not be considered for publication, so submissions are expected to take an analytical position.

Submission Guidelines

  • Word limit: 1,000 to 1,500 words. The Editorial Board may relax this requirement in appropriate cases.
  • Co-authorship: permitted up to a maximum of two authors.
  • Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Language: English.
  • Authors are encouraged to maintain anonymity in the submitted manuscript to facilitate an impartial review process.
  • Manuscripts are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Formatting and Citation Guidelines

  • Font: Garamond
  • Font size: 12 for main text, 10 for endnotes (where used)
  • Line spacing: 1.5 for main text, 1.0 for endnotes
  • Alignment: Justified
  • All online references must be hyperlinked within the text. Where hyperlinks are not possible, endnotes may be used.
  • Endnotes must conform to the Bluebook Citation Method.
  • Speaking endnotes are not permitted.
  • Verbatim quotations should be enclosed within double quotation marks and italicised.

Originality and Author Declaration

  • Submissions must be the original and unpublished work of the author or authors.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all facts, authorities and opinions expressed in their submissions.
  • The permissible limit of similarity or plagiarism is 15%. Any submission exceeding this limit shall be rejected.
  • If the manuscript has been submitted simultaneously to another publication, the author or authors must disclose the same in the covering email.

How to Submit

Submissions must be sent via email to famlawcentre@nlujodhpur.ac.in in Microsoft Word format.

  • The subject line of the email must read: "Submission to CFL Blog | Title of the Submission"
  • The body of the email must include a two-line biography of the author or authors, along with their institutional affiliation (where applicable)

The Editorial Board shall acknowledge receipt of the submission within 48 hours.

Editorial Policy

Each submission undergoes a preliminary editorial review, following which the Editorial Board may accept, reject, or request revisions to the manuscript. Every submission shall be reviewed by one or more members of the Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board reserves absolute discretion to accept, reject or request revisions to any submission, and editorial decisions shall be final.

Copyright Policy

Copyright in all published works shall vest with the Centre for Family Law (CFL).

Blog posts may subsequently be cross-published on other platforms, provided due credit is given to the Family Law Chronicle Blog and it is expressly stated that the work was "first published on the CFL Blog, National Law University, Jodhpur".
