Overview

The Centre for Policies, Laws and Agenda (CPLAN) at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi invites submissions for its flagship blog, The Policy Chronicle. The platform is a forum for reflective and critical discourse at the intersection of law, governance, and public policy.

The blog engages with contemporary legal and policy developments, challenges existing frameworks, and proposes grounded, research-driven solutions to modern governance challenges. It values analytical depth as well as accessibility, so pieces should be readable by both academic audiences and those without a formal background in law or policy. There is no submission fee.

About the organiser

NUSRL, Ranchi was established in 2010 by an Act of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly and is one of India's national law universities, offering B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. and PhD programmes.

CPLAN was established within NUSRL in 2023 to promote research and activities in Constitutional Law, Legislative Drafting, and Policy Research, working at the intersection of policy, law, and national development.

Submission guidelines

  • Manuscripts must be in English only.
  • All work must be original and unpublished, not under consideration elsewhere; cross-publication is not permitted.
  • Length should ordinarily be 1200-2000 words, though this may be relaxed at the discretion of the advisory board. Longer pieces may be published as two or three posts with editorial approval.
  • Submit in .doc or .docx format only, named as Title_CPLAN_TPC Blog.
  • Attach a short author bio of up to 100 words separately; no identifying information should appear in the main manuscript.
  • Original images, infographics, or flowcharts are welcome, provided they are original or copyright-free.

Formatting and referencing

  • References must be hyperlinked within the text. Where an online source is unavailable, use endnotes following the Bluebook 21st Edition.
  • Font: Garamond, size 12 (main text) and 10 (endnotes).
  • Line spacing: 1.5 (main text) and 1.0 (endnotes); alignment justified.
  • Use double quotes and italics for verbatim quotations; italicise statutes, case laws, and other legal documents.

The blog runs submissions through Turnitin for similarity and generative-AI detection. In line with the UGC Academic Integrity Regulations 2018, similarity must be 10 percent or below, and AI-generated writing is permitted only up to 20 percent.

Editorial and review process

The editorial board aims to acknowledge receipt within 48 hours. A preliminary review checks plagiarism and generative-AI use, targeted for completion within 7 days. Pieces that adhere to the guidelines proceed to blind review, which assesses relevance, novelty, and originality. On acceptance, copyright vests in The Policy Chronicle, with authors retaining their moral rights. Editorial decisions are final.

Withdrawal requests can be made to the editorial board within one week of submission; later requests need a valid reason and are at the board's discretion. No withdrawal is considered after acceptance.

The blog accepts submissions on a rolling basis, but no submission under the present call will be accepted after 30 September 2026, 11:59 PM.
