About the Edited Book

The Centre for Labour Law and Research (CLLR) at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi invites original chapter contributions for its upcoming edited book, Transforming Labour Jurisprudence in India: Codification, Compliance, and the Changing Paradigm of Workers' Welfare. The volume examines how India's four Labour Codes and allied reforms are reshaping the rights, protections, and welfare of workers across the formal and informal economy.

Thematic Areas

  • The New Labour Codes Paradigm: Code on Wages, Industrial Relations Code, Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, and the Code on Social Security.
  • Social Security and Legacy Protective Legislations: Provident Fund, gig and platform workers, and maternity benefits.
  • Workplace Equality, Gender Justice and Protection: POSH Act, intersectionality, and the Equal Remuneration principle.
  • Conventional Statutes, Transition and Special Categories: Worker definitions, collective bargaining, layoffs, and retrenchment.
  • Dispute Resolution, Arbitration and Alternatives: Conciliation, arbitration, access to justice, and digitalization.

Who Can Contribute

Submissions are welcome from legal academicians, judicial officers, practising advocates, policy analysts, corporate professionals, trade union representatives, research scholars, advanced doctoral candidates, and law students. Student contributors are encouraged to co-author with established academicians or industry professionals.

Submission Guidelines

  • Stage 1 (Abstract): An abstract of 500 to 700 words along with a 100 to 150 word author bio, due by 15 August 2026.
  • Stage 2 (Full Chapter): On acceptance of the abstract, a full chapter of 6,000 to 8,000 words (inclusive of all footnotes), due by 31 October 2026.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.

Formatting and Citation

Chapters must use Times New Roman, 12 point main text, 1.5 line spacing, and 1 inch margins. Citations must follow the OSCOLA footnote style. The similarity index must not exceed 10 percent.

Publication, Fee and Benefits

There is no submission, processing, or publication fee. Accepted authors receive a complimentary copy of the book and open-access digital access. The volume is expected to be published by 30 January 2027.

Submissions must be sent to the Centre by email at cllr@nusrlranchi.ac.in with the subject line formatted as: "Book Chapter Submission [Author Name]".
