The Environmental Politics and Governance (EPG) network invites paper proposals for its 13th annual conference, to be held in London, United Kingdom, from 15 to 18 June 2027. The conference is hosted by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), with support from the LSE Global School of Sustainability, the Sustainable Social Policy and Welfare States Research Hub in the Department of Social Policy and the Department of Government, together with the Department of Political Economy at King's College London.
The conference showcases emerging research on environmental politics and governance, offers authors feedback on work in progress and builds an international community of researchers. Earlier editions were held in Seattle (2015), Zurich (2016), Bloomington (2017), Stockholm (2018), Santa Barbara (2019), Oslo (2020/2021), Penn State (2022), Glasgow (2023), Quebec City (2024), Sachseln (2025) and Madison (2026).
The 2027 conference seeks papers that offer significant theoretical and/or empirical insights on all domains of environmental politics and governance. It welcomes studies using any combination of rigorous quantitative, qualitative or other innovative research designs, including comparative, historical, interpretive and computational approaches. While many EPG scholars are political scientists, the network welcomes scholars from any discipline who work on environmental politics, policy or governance, which makes the call relevant to researchers in environmental law, climate governance and regulation.
Every proposal undergoes double-blind review by two members of the EPG international steering committee, including submissions by steering group members and colleagues at the host institutions. The conference runs as a single track of panels and poster sessions; participants read and comment on other participants' papers in advance. Authors of accepted proposals must share the full paper with participants two weeks before the conference.
There is no conference registration fee. LSE and King's College London will provide all meals during the conference. Participants are responsible for their own travel to London and their own accommodation. Limited funds are available to support accommodation for early career researchers who would otherwise be unable to attend; request this on the submission form. Participants who can do so are asked to cover their own costs so that these funds go to those without access to research or travel funding. Support requests are not shared with reviewers and do not affect the review. International participants should check early whether they need a UK visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). The organisers will provide formal invitation letters for UK visa applications on request once proposals are accepted.
Submit the proposal through the official Google Form by Sunday 15 November 2026, 23:59 UK time (05:29 IST on Monday 16 November 2026). The anonymised abstract PDF is uploaded through the link provided in the form.
Participants should plan to arrive by the afternoon of Tuesday 15 June 2027 and depart after lunch on Friday 18 June 2027. The conference opens on Tuesday evening with a public roundtable at LSE, followed by a welcome reception and dinner.
