Santa Clara University School of Law invites in-person participation in the 2027 Internet Law Works-in-Progress conference, the Law of the Bronco edition, to be held at Santa Clara University School of Law, Santa Clara, California on March 6, 2027.
The conference enables Internet law scholars from around the globe to receive feedback on their in-progress research from their academic peers.
This year the theme is the Law of the Bronco. The organisers link it to the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, the 30th anniversary of Judge Easterbrook's article "Cyberspace and the Law of the Horse", and the fact that Santa Clara University's mascot is a bronco. The conference will have several equine-themed elements.
The organisers read the scope of Internet law broadly. They welcome presentations of research projects at stages ranging from embryonic to unfinished drafts, so long as the draft would still benefit from peer feedback. Non-presenting discussants are also welcome.
Email Eric Goldman at egoldman@gmail.com before the priority deadline of November 18, 2026, noon Pacific time, with the following.
Use "2027 Internet Law WIP Request to Participate" as the email subject line.
Requests received after the priority deadline will be considered on a space-available basis. The organisers expect to respond to participation requests by November 25, 2026.
There is no conference participation fee, but all participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses. There are no publication obligations associated with presenting at the conference.
Game night is an integral part of the conference. Attendees should plan their travel schedules so that they can take part. This year it will include an equine-themed activity and many board game options.
Further details, including travel and hotel information, will be added to the conference web page. Questions can go to Eric Goldman at egoldman@gmail.com.
