The 4th National Seminar on Affordable Housing: SDG 11 will be held on 20 and 21 February 2027. Affordable housing is central to an inclusive society in twenty-first-century India, and links closely to Sustainable Development Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities. Government initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the vision of Housing for All reflect sustained effort, yet challenges relating to land, financing, regulation and dispute resolution continue to impede implementation.
The seminar will examine the legal, policy and institutional frameworks governing affordable housing in India, how legal and regulatory reforms, housing finance, urban planning, land governance and infrastructure can support inclusive urban growth, and the role of technology, artificial intelligence and innovation. It will also engage with climate resilience, disaster-responsive planning, gender equity, housing rights, governance, social justice, and public transport and urban accessibility. It brings together academicians, researchers, practitioners, policymakers and industry stakeholders, and aims to generate policy recommendations in line with India's commitment to the 2030 Agenda.
