Call for papers

CASIHR invites long articles, short articles, essays, case comments and book reviews for Volume 10, Issue II. The volume is not theme specific, and authors are free to write on any topic relevant to human rights that adds to contemporary discourse. Preference will be given to empirical research work. Manuscripts go through initial screening and then a double-blind peer review by relevant academicians and experts, and final selection is based on that process.

Categories and word limits

  • Long articles: 7,000-8,000 words (maximum preferred)
  • Short articles and essays: 5,000-6,000 words
  • Case comments: 3,000-4,000 words
  • Book reviews: 1,500-2,500 words
  • Abstracts: 250-300 words

The word limit is exclusive of footnotes.

  • Body text in Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5; footnotes in Times New Roman, size 10, single spacing.
  • Citations must follow the Bluebook (21st edition).
  • Individual student manuscripts are not accepted; students may submit only in co-authorship with a mentor.
  • Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of two authors.
  • Book reviews must give the name of the author or editor and the book reviewed, place of publication and publisher, year of publication, number of pages, and price.
  • Plagiarism should be less than 10% as per UGC norms.
  • Each submission needs a separate cover letter giving the name of the author(s), designation, name and address of the institution, contact details (address and mobile number), and an undertaking on originality of the work and transfer of copyright in compliance with UGC norms and RGNUL rules.

Review process

The Editor first checks that the manuscript falls within human rights discourse. It is then peer reviewed, which may take at least 3 to 4 weeks. Depending on the reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript is accepted, sent back for revisions, or rejected. Once the Editor approves a manuscript, it goes to the publishing unit for inclusion in the journal.
