About the journal and the Collection

Discover Global Society is a transdisciplinary, open access journal in Springer Nature's Discover series, publishing societal research on all areas of our modern global society and its challenges (Electronic ISSN 2731-9687). Its Collection 'Geo-economic Fragmentation and WTO Neutrality Crisis: Reassessing Trade Governance in Strategic Rivalry' is open for submissions until 31 March 2027.

The Collection is guest edited by Dr. Sheikh Inam Ul Mansoor, Assistant Professor of Law and Head of Research and Publication at Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad Campus, Symbiosis International University. As the journal's submission guidelines state, peer review of collection submissions is handled by guest editors, and all final decisions undergo quality checks by the journal's in-house editorial team.

Theme

The Collection examines the evolving relationship between international trade law, geopolitical competition and emerging models of economic governance in a multipolar world order: how strategic rivalry is reshaping WTO norms, institutional legitimacy, dispute settlement, digital trade governance, climate-related trade measures, and Global South perspectives on economic justice and regulatory sovereignty.

It particularly welcomes submissions on:

  • National security exceptions under WTO law
  • Techno-nationalism and strategic autonomy
  • Supply-chain governance
  • Distributive justice in trade
  • Regionalism and deglobalization
  • The WTO in a New World Order
  • The Global South in the WTO
  • Trade war and the future of multilateralism

Who can submit

This is an open academic call. In the Collection's own words, it invites "interdisciplinary and comparative contributions" and aims to bring together scholars from law, international relations, political economy and global governance. No nationality restriction is stated, so researchers based in India may submit.

Article types and submission requirements

The journal accepts Research articles, Brief Reports, Registered Reports and Review articles (Review articles of any length). For every article type you will need to upload:

  • The manuscript file (Word, or LaTeX compressed as ZIP)
  • An abstract of less than 250 words
  • A cover letter outlining the context and importance of the work and why it suits the journal

Figures, tables and supplementary material are optional. Read the journal's submission guidelines in full before submitting.

Publication fee (open access APC)

All articles in Discover Global Society are published open access, and an article-processing charge (APC) applies to accepted articles. As stated on the journal's page:

  • Discounted APC: EUR 1,140 / USD 1,440 / GBP 990, for articles accepted for publication up to and including 31 December 2026
  • Standard APC: EUR 1,790 / USD 2,090 / GBP 1,490

The discount does not apply to any journal an article is transferred to if not accepted in Discover Global Society. Springer Nature's fees and funding page lets authors check whether their institution or funder covers the APC.
