Seton Hall Law School’s Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law & Policy has announced the Eleventh Annual Health Law Works-in-Progress Retreat (WIP Retreat). The purpose of the retreat is to give health law scholars an opportunity to share their work and exchange ideas in a friendly, informal setting.
The retreat will be held on 15 January 2027 as a live event at Seton Hall’s Newark, New Jersey campus, with an option for remote participation for those unable to attend in person.
The retreat involves an in-depth discussion of 4-5 draft papers. For each paper, two commentators are designated, each of whom has about 10 minutes to present comments and suggestions. The author then has 5 minutes to respond, after which the floor opens to a general discussion among all retreat participants.
The retreat is open to anyone with an academic appointment in health law, including professors, fellows and visitors, in any institution of higher education (not just law schools). Faculty members, fellows and visiting scholars at Indian universities working in health law may therefore submit. Students without an academic appointment are not covered by the call.
Email your draft or detailed outline to healthlaw@shu.edu no later than 13 November 2026.
The organisers will select the papers to be presented by early December 2026 and will then identify two commentators for each paper. Final drafts are due on 8 January 2027. Drafts will be made available to all participants on a password-protected website.
The official announcement does not mention any submission or participation fee.
