The HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies (ISSN: 3108-110X) is an annual, blind peer-reviewed journal published by the Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies at Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla. Among National Law School journals in India, it is the first of its kind devoted exclusively to disability laws and related jurisprudence.
About the Call
The Journal invites scholarly contributions from academicians, scholars, professionals, and policymakers for its Volume III (2026). It solicits work relating to legal as well as other developments in the field of disability laws and related jurisprudence, accepting theoretical, qualitative, and quantitative ideas through a multidisciplinary approach spanning legal, socio-economic, socio-legal, sociological, historical, political, psychological, gender and sexuality, feminist, and other perspectives.
Categories
- Articles: 6,000 to 10,000 words
- Essays & Comments: 4,000 to 6,000 words
- Case Comments & Legislative Comments: 4,000 to 6,000 words
- Book Reviews: 3,000 to 4,000 words (must be sent along with a new hard copy of the book)
Submission Guidelines
- Submissions are accepted only in English and must be accompanied by an abstract of 250-300 words highlighting the novelty and specific contribution beyond existing literature.
- Co-authorship is allowed up to one co-author only.
- The manuscript must be anonymous, with no reference to author identity.
- Body text in Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing; footnotes in Times New Roman, font size 10, single spacing.
- Citation must follow the HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style, using footnotes only.
- Manuscripts with more than 10% similarity will be rejected.
How to Submit
Send the manuscript in MS Word (.docx) format to editorjds@hpnlu.ac.in with the subject line "Submission to HPNLU-JDS-V3 <Title of Contribution>". Submissions must be sent on or before July 15, 2026, via email only. A covering letter with the paper title, author name, designation, institutional affiliation, and a declaration of originality must accompany the manuscript.
Fee
There is no submission or publication fee for the HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies. Copyright in all published articles vests in HPNLU, Shimla.
