Call for Papers: International Conference on Mediation (ICoMED) 2026 at Universitas Islam Bandung, Indonesia [26 October; Hybrid; SINTA-Indexed Journals and ISBN Proceedings]

The International Conference on Mediation in the Era of Disruption (ICoMED) 2026 is convened by the Doctoral Program in Law, Cohort 2025, Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA), Bandung, Indonesia. UNISBA is a long-established private Indonesian university whose Faculty of Law carries the tagline "Bridging Law, Justice, and Human Values" and runs undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes in law.

ICoMED is positioned as an international academic forum for examining how mediation and peaceful dispute resolution are developing in response to global disruption, technological transformation, cross-border legal complexity, and contemporary demands for accessible, effective and sustainable justice. The conference runs for a single day, 26 October 2026, with a plenary session from 08:00 to 13:00 WIB (UTC+7) and parallel sessions from 14:00 to 17:00 WIB.

The announced keynote speaker is YM Hakim Agung Ennid Hasanudin, S.H., C.N., M.H. of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia (Mahkamah Agung RI). Invited speakers listed on the official flyer are Mr. Yusuke Shima (Japan International Cooperation Agency, Advisor for Judicial Reform, Japan), Mr. Krishna Sisodia, B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. of the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, India, Prof. Dr. Ratna Januarita, S.H., LL.M., M.H. of UNISBA, and Professor Natalie Klein of the School of Global and Public Law, UNSW Sydney, whose participation the flyer marks as confirmation pending.

The conference theme is "Reimagining Mediation in an Era of Global Disruption: Legal Innovation, Cross-Border Governance, and the Future of Peaceful Dispute Resolution". The official Call for Papers document renders the first word as "Rebuilding" while the public flyer and Instagram announcement use "Reimagining"; the substance of the theme is identical in both.

Authors must select exactly one of the following thirteen tracks at the point of submission:

The Author Guidelines state that submissions are welcomed from academics, researchers, judges, mediators, arbitrators, lawyers, government officials, doctoral students, master's students, and other professionals whose work relates to mediation and dispute resolution. The Call for Papers document adds legal practitioners, policymakers and postgraduate students to that list.

There is no restriction to Indonesian institutions. The registration fee table sets out separate National and International rates, and the speaker line-up includes participants from India, Japan and Australia, so an Indian applicant registers on the International tier and may attend either on-site in Bandung or online.

ICoMED runs a full paper submission model. There is no separate abstract-only round: authors submit the complete manuscript by the deadline. Each manuscript must:

• be written in English;
• contain approximately 6,000 to 8,000 words, excluding title, author information, abstract, keywords, references, tables, figures and appendices;
• include an abstract of 150 to 250 words written as a single paragraph, with no citations, footnotes, tables, figures, equations or unexplained abbreviations;
• provide three to five keywords, separated by semicolons;
• follow the official ICoMED full paper template;
• use APA 7th Edition with author-date in-text citations, page numbers on direct quotations, and reference management software (Mendeley or Zotero) which the guidelines make mandatory;
• be original and unpublished, with a similarity index not exceeding 20 per cent after the stated exclusions.

The manuscript structure is fixed: Title, Author Information, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Research Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (if applicable) and References. Titles are set in Cambria 18 pt bold. Authors are encouraged to cite at least 20 scholarly references, prioritising peer-reviewed work from the last five years. Author information must give each author's full name, institutional affiliation, country, corresponding author identification and corresponding author e-mail, with an ORCID iD recommended.

Every submission passes through administrative screening, a similarity assessment, blind peer review, an author revision stage where required, and a final academic and editorial decision. Reviewers are appointed for expertise in the relevant field of law, mediation, dispute resolution or research methodology, and assess originality, legal contribution, research method, legal analysis, academic writing, references and relevance to the conference theme.

The maximum permitted similarity index is 20 per cent, excluding references, properly quoted material, titles of legislation and standard legal terminology. Plagiarism, duplicate submission, fabricated data and falsified references are grounds for rejection.

Artificial intelligence tools may be used for brainstorming, language editing, grammar checking, translation, outlining and formatting, but may not replace the author's own legal reasoning and may never be listed as authors. Where AI tools have materially assisted preparation, the author must disclose that use through the official ICoMED submission form; disclosure does not reduce the author's responsibility for accuracy and originality.

Acceptance for presentation does not automatically guarantee publication. Accepted papers may be considered for the following outlets, all published by Universitas Islam Bandung or by the conference itself:

• Mimbar Hukum, Universitas Islam Bandung (SINTA 3) - up to 5 selected papers. The public flyer names this outlet as MIMBAR: Jurnal Sosial dan Pembangunan.
• Syiar Hukum: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum, Universitas Islam Bandung (SINTA 4) - up to 10 selected papers.
• JRIH: Jurnal Riset Ilmu Hukum, Universitas Islam Bandung (SINTA 5) - selected papers; the flyer indicates 5.
• ICoMED Conference Proceedings with ISBN / e-ISBN - the flyer identifies the proceedings as the Bandung Conference Series: Law Studies, indexed in GARUDA and Google Scholar, and records that no additional publication fee is charged.
• Edited ISBN book chapter volume - the Call for Papers document says up to 20 selected papers, while the flyer says 10; no additional publication fee is charged.

SINTA is Indonesia's national journal accreditation index. None of these outlets is presented by the organiser as Scopus-indexed, and no Scopus claim is made here. Publication in the partner journals remains subject to each journal's own scope, editorial policy, peer review, revision requirements, schedule and applicable fees, and the flyer states plainly that publication fees apply to the selected journal publications.

All fees are stated in Indonesian rupiah. Indian and other overseas participants fall under the International rates. Student rates apply to active undergraduate, master's and doctoral students subject to verification of valid student status.

Presenter registration and payment are completed only after final acceptance, so nothing is payable at the point of submitting a paper. Publication fees charged by the partner journals are separate from these registration fees.

There is one Google Form for both purposes, titled "ICoMED 2026 - Registration & Full Paper Submission". It opens with a choice between Registration Type Presenter and Participant and runs to six pages. Presenters upload the full paper through the form for review; participants use the same form to register to attend on-site or online.

Before submitting, prepare the manuscript on the official ICoMED template, select one conference track, complete the form, upload the manuscript and all required supporting documents, and disclose any AI assistance. The submission checklist in the Author Guidelines asks authors to confirm template compliance, English language, the 6,000 to 8,000 word count, the 150 to 250 word abstract, three to five keywords, APA 7th formatting, consistent in-text citations, complete references, originality, the 20 per cent similarity ceiling, AI disclosure, and approval of the submitted version by all authors.

Accepted authors receive a Letter of Acceptance, presenter registration instructions, presentation guidelines, the technical meeting schedule and camera-ready submission instructions. Parallel sessions run as integrated hybrid chambers, with on-site and online presenters in the same academic session through designated Zoom breakout rooms.

The dates listed in the timeline below are taken from the official Call for Papers document in the organiser's own information package, which sets them out milestone by milestone and states that the timeline remains subject to approval and adjustment by the Organizing Committee. The condensed version printed on the public flyer differs slightly at three intermediate points: it gives notification of acceptance as 30 September 2026, presenter registration as 15 October 2026 and camera-ready submission as 16 October 2026. The two sources agree on the dates that matter most to an author, namely that the call opened on 17 August 2026, that full papers are due on 20 September 2026 and that the conference is held on 26 October 2026.

The address on the public flyer is used here; the WhatsApp numbers of the named coordinators are the more reliable route in the meantime.
