About the Journal

The Journal of Law, Market & Innovation (JLMI) is a diamond open-access, peer-reviewed legal journal hosted by the University of Turin and promoted by the Turin Observatory on Economic Law and Innovation (TOELI). It fosters interdisciplinary research on the regulatory challenges posed by markets and innovation across diverse legal and economic topics. The JLMI is indexed in Scopus, EBSCO, HeinOnline, ERIH+ and DOAJ.

About the Call

This call concerns Issue 1/2027 (Vol. 6), to be published at the end of March 2027. It comprises a General Section (open call on any of the journal's areas of interest) and a Thematic Special Section on "Securitisation of supply chains: Critical raw materials between energy security and the green transition". The thematic issue is edited by the Editors-in-Chief (Lorenza Mola, Cristina Poncibo and Riccardo de Caria) together with guest co-editors Pritam Banerjee and Vishakha Srivastava.

Theme and Sub-Topics

The growing use of trade policy to advance national and economic security objectives is blurring the boundary between legitimate security measures and disguised restrictions on trade. Authors are invited to explore the link between energy security and the green transition in the regulation of trade in critical raw materials. Suggested areas include:

  • Governance of critical raw materials as strategic assets rather than ordinary tradable goods
  • Trade defence instruments, import restrictions, export controls and local content requirements used for strategic purposes
  • Subsidies tied to trusted supply chains, traceability and transparency requirements
  • Tension between dependence on critical raw materials and decarbonisation commitments
  • Risk factors for security and resilience of supply chains, including technological dependencies and asymmetries in access to key technologies
  • Treatification, unilateral measures and contract clauses on critical raw materials, and their implications for global trade

Selection Criteria

The Editorial Board selects articles based on the quality of research and writing, diversity, and relevance of topic. The novelty of the academic contribution is an essential requirement. Selected articles undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process.

Manuscript Guidelines

  • The JLMI typically accepts contributions of 10,000-15,000 words including footnotes; shorter and longer articles will also be considered.
  • Submissions must follow the JLMI style guide and the OSCOLA citation standard.
  • Submissions must conform to the JLMI Code of Ethics and Authors' Guidelines, including disclosure of any simultaneous submission to other journals.

Fee

The JLMI is a diamond open-access publication. There are no submission or article-processing charges for authors.
