Call for Papers: Kazan University Law Review (KULR) [ISSN 2541-8823; Peer Reviewed; HeinOnline; No Fee; No Closing Date]

The Kazan University Law Review (KULR) is an English-language, peer-reviewed law journal of Kazan Federal University, Russia, created on 17 November 2016 through the joint work of the University, the Moscow legal publishing house Statut and Yurlit. It appears four times a year and publishes Russian and foreign authors, with the aim of making modern Russian law accessible to foreign readers and serving as an international platform for discussing current problems of jurisprudence. The Editor-in-Chief is Damir Kh. Valeev.

The journal states that it is indexed in RSCI and ERIH Plus and is included in Russia's Unified State List of Scientific Publications. HeinOnline's Law Journal Library carries volumes 1 to 10 (2016 to 2025). Articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution licence, with authors retaining copyright.

• Original research articles on fundamental issues of law, not previously published or under consideration elsewhere, reflecting the author's own academic approach.
• Biographies of prominent figures in jurisprudence, covering their professional path, scholarship and influence on the legal system.
• Reviews of major academic legal events such as conferences, forums, symposiums and round tables.

Submissions on a wide range of legal issues are welcome. Articles are accepted in English only.

The journal invites authors from Russia and other countries, including legal scholars, practitioners and theorists. Graduate students must additionally provide a review of the article written by a certified supervisor, as an image file.

• Title: no more than 15 words, without abbreviations other than accepted international ones.
• Abstract: 150 to 300 words, covering research objectives, methodology, practical significance, results and conclusions.
• Keywords: 5 to 7 words or phrases.
• Introduction, main text, conclusions and, where relevant, acknowledgements.
• Literature: at least 10 sources in alphabetical order, all cited in the text; at least 2 to 3 published in the last 5 to 10 years; at least 40% in English; self-citation no more than 10%.
• Author information at the end: full name, place of work or study, academic degree, phone number, mailing address and email.

• Length: 15,000 to 100,000 characters with spaces (about 9 to 20 pages), counting everything from title to literature, as stated on the journal's Information for Authors page. The older guideline on the submission portal gives 40,000 to 120,000 characters, so check the current page before submitting.
• Main text: Times New Roman 14 pt, 1.5 line spacing, 2 cm margins on all sides.
• Footnotes: Times New Roman 12 pt, single spacing, numbered page by page.
• File format: .doc (Microsoft Word).
• Tables: captions above the table; table text in Times New Roman 10 to 12 pt. Figures and formulas should use Latin characters and English text only.
• Originality of at least 85% on an anti-plagiarism check, excluding references.
• Remove author names from the manuscript file to keep the review anonymous.

Every article is first screened for fit with the journal's theme and formal requirements, then sent for double-blind review by a member of the editorial board and, where needed, an independent external reviewer. An article may be accepted, returned for revision or rejected. Revisions should be completed within two months; an article not returned within three months of the review is removed from the publication queue. The editorial board takes the final decision, and accepted articles are published in order of priority.

There is no publication fee. The journal states that the publisher publishes authors' work at no charge.
