The University of Ghana Law Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal published annually by the University of Ghana School of Law, Legon, Accra. Established in 1964, it describes itself as Ghana's oldest and leading law journal and has served for over six decades as a forum for legal scholarship on issues of national, regional and international significance. The Journal is published and funded by the School of Law and carries no commercial advertising.
The Editorial Board has invited submissions for consideration for publication in the Journal.
The Journal publishes original, high-quality scholarship on all areas of law and legal studies, including work that engages with contemporary legal issues of national, regional, comparative and international significance. It accepts:
The call is open. While the Journal has a particular interest in legal developments in Ghana and Africa, it welcomes contributions addressing legal issues from other jurisdictions where they offer comparative, theoretical or practical insights of broader relevance. Its readership includes academics, researchers, judges, legal practitioners, policymakers and students.
All submissions go through the Journal's editorial and peer-review processes. Research articles are reviewed by double-blind peer review; the Editorial Office removes author-identifying information before a manuscript is sent to reviewers.
Neither the call nor the author guidelines mention any submission or publication fee. The Journal states that it is not an open access journal: published content is available under its subscription and distribution policies, though the Editorial Board may make selected articles freely available. Authors retain copyright and grant the Journal the right of first publication.
Register on the Journal's online submission system and submit your manuscript there by Monday, 30 November 2026. Manuscripts received by 30 November of each year are considered for the following year's edition, so this deadline feeds the 2027 edition.
