Overview

Submissions are open for the inaugural volume of the CARCIL Corporate Law Review (Vol. I, 2026), the flagship student-run, peer-reviewed journal of the Centre for Advanced Research on Corporate and Insolvency Laws (CARCIL) at Chanakya National Law University, Patna. If your work sits at the intersection of corporate, commercial and insolvency law, this is a chance to be part of a brand-new journal from its very first issue.

The last date to submit is 30 September 2026, and there is no submission or publication fee.

About the organiser

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna is a National Law University established in 2006 under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006). CARCIL was set up under its aegis in 2019 to promote advanced research, policy discourse and capacity building in corporate law, corporate governance, and insolvency and bankruptcy laws.

The CARCIL Corporate Law Review is published on a bi-annual basis, with issues in May and December each year. It is managed by a student editorial board working under faculty guidance, with a rigorous review, editing and cite-checking process.

Themes

Submissions are invited on, but not limited to, the following themes:

  • Corporate Law and Corporate Governance
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws
  • Banking and Finance Laws
  • Securities Regulation
  • Competition Law
  • Taxation Laws
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Arbitration and Commercial Dispute Resolution
  • Technology and Business Regulation
  • Emerging issues in commercial and financial laws
  • Any allied theme connected with corporate and insolvency law jurisprudence

The themes are indicative and not exhaustive. Interdisciplinary and contemporary contributions are highly encouraged.

Categories and word limits

You can submit under any of the following categories (word limits exclude footnotes):

  • Long Articles (6,000-10,000 words) - comprehensive, in-depth analyses advancing an original thesis.
  • Short Articles (4,000-6,000 words) - focused discussions on a specific issue with conceptual clarity and analytical rigour.
  • Case / Legislative Comments (1,500-3,000 words) - critical analyses of recent decisions, amendments or regulatory developments (substantive critique, not mere summary).
  • Book Reviews (2,000-3,000 words) - critical evaluations of recently published academic works within the journal's themes.

Submission guidelines

  • Work must be original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism (under 10%) and AI-generated content (under 20%).
  • Manuscripts must be in English and submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • Include an abstract of 250-300 words highlighting the novelty and contribution of the piece.
  • Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.
  • The manuscript must not contain any identifying author details (double-blind review).
  • Body text: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified.
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, font size 10, single spacing; citations must follow OSCOLA (4th Edition). Only footnotes may be used for citation, and they are excluded from the word limit.
  • Simultaneous submissions to other publications are not permitted during the review process.
  • Each author may submit a maximum of one manuscript.

Review and copyright

The Editorial Board aims to convey a preliminary decision within four weeks of submission; you are requested not to enquire about status before then. Preliminary acceptance does not confirm publication, which remains subject to the peer review and any required changes. Submissions must be accompanied by a duly signed Certificate of Originality and Copyright in the prescribed format. Upon submission you will receive an acknowledgement along with a manuscript code to quote in future correspondence.

Submit your manuscript through the official Google Form linked below. Submissions made through any other mode will not be entertained. Attach the signed Certificate of Originality and Copyright using the format provided by the organiser.
