About the Committee for Justice (CFJ)

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) is an independent human rights organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, established in 2015. CFJ is committed to supporting victims and human rights defenders who are vulnerable to violations, and works on monitoring, documentation, research and advocacy before regional and international mechanisms. The organisation was granted UN ECOSOC consultative status in 2023 and also maintains an office in Paris.

About the Fellowship

CFJ is offering a six-month Human Rights Fellowship based in Nairobi, Kenya, commencing in September 2026. The fellowship is designed for early-career individuals under 35 years of age who wish to build practical expertise in monitoring and documenting human rights violations, conducting research and carrying out advocacy with regional and international human rights mechanisms.

This is a full-time role. The working arrangement is approximately 70% office-based and 30% travel for meetings and events, with compensatory time off provided for weekend work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on human rights issues and compile findings into structured outputs.
  • Support advocacy efforts through drafting reports and briefing papers.
  • Engage with communities and partners to advance awareness initiatives.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Under 35 years of age.
  • Background in social sciences, law, international law or human rights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (French preferred).
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Flexibility to travel and the ability to adapt to multicultural environments.
  • Self-motivation combined with a strong team orientation.

Compensation and Work Conditions
