The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, has invited applications for the engagement of 01 (one) Consultant in its Legal and Treaties-I (L&T-I) Division at New Delhi. The vacancy has been notified by the Administration Division of the Ministry from Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan under Advertisement No. Q/PF/575/35/2026-I dated 10 July 2026.
The L&T-I Division is the Ministry's in-house legal wing, handling India's treaty practice, international legal obligations and advice to the Government on questions of public and private international law. This particular engagement is focused on Conflict of Laws and Private International Law, including India's obligations under Conventions of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) and UNIDROIT.
The engagement is for a period of 01 (one) year. The contract can be extended further depending on an assessment of performance, mutual willingness and the requirement of the Ministry. The contract may be terminated on one month's notice from either side, or on payment of one month's pay in lieu of notice. Unauthorised absence may lead to termination of the engagement.

The Consultant will be posted at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Depending on the requirement, the place of work may be South Block, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, Patiala House, the ISIL Building or the CCS Building.
