About the Examination

The High Court of Delhi invites online applications from eligible candidates for filling up 27 vacancies (24 existing and 03 anticipated) by way of direct recruitment to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service, conducted under the Delhi Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1970 (as amended up to date). This is the entry route to the District Judge cadre for practising advocates and eligible judicial officers.

Stages of Selection

  • Preliminary Examination (objective type, with 25% negative marking) for selection of candidates for the Mains Examination
  • Mains Examination (written) for selection of candidates for the viva-voce
  • Viva-voce

Eligibility

  • Must be a citizen of India
  • In the case of an advocate, must have been continuously practising for not less than seven years as on the last date of receipt of applications, i.e., 15.07.2026
  • In the case of a judicial officer, must have completed seven years in the Bar before recruitment to the subordinate judicial service, or have seven years combined experience as a Judicial Officer and an Advocate as on 15.07.2026
  • Must have attained the age of 35 years and must not have attained the age of 45 years on the last date of receipt of applications

  • General: 17 (14 existing + 03 anticipated)
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 05
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 05
  • Total: 27 vacancies, including 03 reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (40% or more) across identified disability categories

Pay Scale

The scale of pay of the members of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service is (J-5) Rs 1,44,840 - Rs 1,94,660.

Application Fee

A non-refundable fee of Rs 2,000 for General category candidates and Rs 500 for reserved category candidates [Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Persons with Disabilities (identified disabilities) of 40% or more] must be paid through Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking or UPI.

How to Apply

Candidates must submit their applications online only, in the prescribed format, through the official website of the High Court of Delhi at www.delhihighcourt.nic.in. Log-in creation and form filling opened on 01.07.2026 at 1000 hours and close on 15.07.2026 at 1730 hours. Applicants should not send a printout of the online application form to the High Court of Delhi.
