DEMOCRA TALK 2026: 2nd Nation-Wide Youth Parliament at CGC University, Mohali [11 September; Cash Prizes Rs 24,000]

CGC University, Mohali was established in 2025 under the aegis of the Chandigarh Educational Society, building on more than 25 years of institutional experience in higher education. Under its previous identity as Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjheri, the institution earned NAAC A+ accreditation with a CGPA of 3.46 out of 4.0, reflecting its standards in teaching, research and overall institutional performance. The university emphasises holistic student development, practical learning and industry readiness, and delivers quality higher education at affordable fees.

The School of Legal Studies at CGC University, Mohali offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.A. LL.B., B.Com LL.B., BBA LL.B., a three-year LL.B. programme, an LL.M. programme and a Ph.D. programme. Its faculty combines legal scholars and practitioners who guide students through both foundational legal theory and real-world application.

The School's infrastructure supports experiential learning through a well-equipped moot court room, an active legal aid clinic and a library enriched with extensive digital resources. A dedicated placement cell coordinates corporate and legal internships and connects students with recruiters, while regular moot court competitions build advocacy, research and analytical ability.

The 2nd Nation-wide CGCU Youth Parliament, Democra Talk 2026, follows the successful conclusion of the first edition and is the flagship national-level parliamentary simulation of the School of Legal Studies, CGC University, Mohali. The event seeks to give students a realistic understanding of India's parliamentary democracy through simulated legislative proceedings, policy debates and media engagement.

Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the objectives of NEP 2020, Democra Talk is designed to nurture constitutional values, democratic participation, leadership, public speaking, negotiation, policy analysis and informed decision-making among young people. The stated objectives of the event are:

• Promote democratic and constitutional awareness.
• Develop leadership and communication skills.
• Encourage youth participation in governance.
• Inspire contributions towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

Expected outcomes listed by the organisers include greater democratic and constitutional awareness, enhanced leadership and communication skills, increased youth engagement in governance, improved policy analysis and negotiation skills, and a better understanding of parliamentary functioning.

The event consists of three parallel forums, each running two sessions of 1.5 hours for a total of three hours.

• All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM): a dynamic forum for political dialogue, consensus-building and policy deliberation, in which delegates represent various national and regional political parties and engage in discussion, negotiation and strategic decision-making while upholding democratic principles and parliamentary decorum. Agenda: "Women Representation in Politics and Governance: Pathways Towards Inclusive Leadership and Viksit Bharat 2047". Sessions focus on policy debates, inter-party discussions and coalition-building, with delegates presenting party perspectives and collaboratively developing practical recommendations to strengthen women's participation in politics and governance.
• Lok Sabha: the principal legislative forum of Democra Talk, simulating the functioning of the Lower House of Parliament while adhering to established parliamentary procedure, decorum and democratic values. Agenda: "Skill Development and Employment for Youth in India: Challenges, Opportunities and the Road to Viksit Bharat 2047". Session I covers opening statements and party perspectives; Session II covers political negotiations, caucuses and policy formulation.
• Press Committee: the official media wing of Democra Talk, responsible for parliamentary reporting, delegate interviews, photography and social media coverage.

Democra Talk 2026 is open to school, undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised institutions across India.

Participation fees are:

• School students: Rs 400
• Undergraduate and postgraduate students: Rs 500

Registration includes a delegate kit, lunch, a participation certificate, committee materials and access to the committee sessions.

The fee is paid by bank transfer to the account published in the brochure: account name School of Legal Studies, account number 50100847002168, HDFC Bank, IFSC HDFC0003578, Jhanjeri branch, Mohali. A screenshot of the payment, the transaction ID and the date of payment are required on the registration form.

Registration is through the official Google Form linked below, which is live and accepting responses. The form asks for name, gender, mobile number, email, institution or college or school name, city and state, category of participant (school, undergraduate or postgraduate), course or class, committee preferences ranked first, second and third across AIPPM, Lok Sabha and the Press Committee, three preferred portfolio roles, an upload of the payment screenshot, the transaction ID, the date of payment, and a reference field to be filled with N.A. if the applicant is not registering through a reference.

The form links a portfolio list from which applicants pick their three preferred roles. Portfolios are allotted after registration on a first come, first served basis. Neither the brochure nor the form publishes a registration cut-off date, so applicants should register early while portfolios remain available.
