National Law University Delhi, through its Centre for Transnational Commercial Law (CTCL), is accepting applications for the Diploma in Business and Laws for Entrepreneurs and Startups (DBL) 2026-2027 and the associated Certificate Courses.
The programme is built around a practical premise: many startups struggle or fold not for want of ideas, but for want of working knowledge of the legal issues that govern them. It covers the major aspects of operating a startup in India, including how to raise external funding to scale a business, and is pitched at both lawyers and non-lawyers in the startup ecosystem.
Subject coverage spans business law, startup regulation, corporate governance, dispute resolution, and compliance.
The Certificate courses specialise in their respective areas of business and law, and are designed for participants who want depth in one area rather than the full Diploma.
Graduates from any discipline are eligible to apply. Students enrolled in an integrated 4-year or 5-year undergraduate programme may also apply, provided they are in the 4th or 5th year of study.
Participants are expected to understand the legal roadmap from idea to established business, choose a suitable legal entity for a venture, recognise critical growth inflection points, and offer focused, practical legal guidance to entrepreneurs and startup enterprises.
Key competencies developed include business formation and entity selection, contract drafting and negotiation, corporate governance and compliance, venture capital and private equity, and dispute resolution.
The Course Director is Prof. Dr. Risham Garg, Professor of Law, Executive Director of CTCL and Registrar, NLU Delhi. Course mentors include Mr. Varun Pathak (Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas) and Dr. S.N. Ghosh (Senior Consultant, Ministry of Finance).
The expert faculty panel includes, but is not limited to, Mr. Ravi Sharma (Independent Legal Counsel, former Director at PwC India), Mr. Tarun Aggarwal (Managing Partner, TBA Legal), Mr. Arunav Guha Roy (Partner, Trilegal), Mr. Vineet Aneja (Managing Partner, Clasis Law) and Mr. Kashish Grover (Founding Partner, Orington & Partners).
Applications are submitted online through the NLU Delhi ODL portal at https://odl.nludelhi.ac.in, where registration, programme details, eligibility criteria, the fee structure and the complete brochure are available.
The last date to apply is 15 August 2026.
