Discover Global Society is a transdisciplinary, open-access journal from Springer Nature (ISSN 2731-9687), indexed in DOAJ and Scopus, publishing societal research across all areas of modern global society and its challenges. This topical Collection, Contemporary Armed Conflicts, Geopolitical Challenges, and Global Governance in a Multipolar World, is now open for submissions.

The Collection critically examines the evolving relationship between contemporary armed conflicts, geopolitical competition, and emerging models of global governance in a rapidly shifting multipolar order. It invites interdisciplinary and comparative contributions exploring how strategic rivalry is reshaping international law, collective security frameworks, humanitarian protection mechanisms, conflict-resolution processes, multilateral institutions, maritime governance, cyber governance, and global peace and security architectures.

Scope and Themes

Submissions are particularly welcomed on themes including:

  • International humanitarian law and human rights during armed conflict
  • Contemporary armed conflicts, geopolitical rivalry and multipolarity
  • Collective security, United Nations reform and the future of multilateralism
  • Maritime security, freedom of navigation and maritime governance
  • Cyber warfare, cyber governance and emerging military technologies
  • Sanctions regimes, strategic autonomy and regional security architectures
  • Energy security, conflict prevention and peacebuilding
  • Global South perspectives on the structural transformation of the international order

Who Can Submit

The Collection brings together scholars from law, international relations, political science, security studies, public policy, and global governance. Interdisciplinary and comparative contributions are encouraged.

Article Processing Charge (Open Access)

Discover Global Society is fully open access. A discounted article-processing charge of USD 1440 / EUR 1140 / GBP 990 applies to articles accepted before 31 December 2026; the standard charge thereafter is USD 2090 / EUR 1790 / GBP 1490. APC waivers and discounts may be available per Springer Nature's open-access policy.

How to Submit

Submit your manuscript to the participating journal (Discover Global Society) through the Springer Nature submission system, selecting this Collection during submission. Manuscripts must follow the journal's submission guidelines. Median time to first decision is approximately 22 days.
