The European Society of International Law (ESIL) is hosting an online ESIL Teaching Corner Webinar titled 'Teaching and Experiencing International Law Through Legal Clinics' on Friday, 30 October 2026, from 11:00 to 12:30 Rome time (3:30 PM to 5:00 PM IST).
The webinar will bring together academics engaged in clinical legal education to explore the opportunities and challenges of using legal clinics as a participatory methodology for teaching international law, including the experiences of students and teaching staff and engagement with external partners and academic institutions.
The series addresses a gap in international legal education by shifting the focus from what is taught to how it is taught. It engages with theoretical and academic discussions on international law pedagogy through book discussions and exchanges with researchers, and explores teaching models such as moot courts, legal clinics, and the use of film, television and theatre. Recordings of previous sessions are available on the ESIL Teaching Corner page.
The webinar is chaired and organised by Giulio Bartolini (Roma Tre University, ESIL Board member).
The announcement sets no eligibility condition. It will interest law students, researchers and faculty working on international law, clinical legal education and legal pedagogy. Registration is through the official online registration form.
Online, through Microsoft Teams. The official announcement lists only a registration form and no fee.
Register through the official Microsoft Teams event registration link given on the ESIL announcement. Registration closes on 30 October 2026 at 10:00 Rome time (2:30 PM IST).
