Faculty Recruitment (Professor & Assistant Professors in Law) at Assam University, Silchar

Assam University, Silchar, a Central University established by an Act of Parliament, has invited online applications under Employment Notification No. 2/2026 dated 26 May 2026 for the teaching positions of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor across departments at its Silchar (Main) Campus and Diphu Campus. The drive spans disciplines including Law, Commerce, Economics, Education, Political Science, English, Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences and more, along with separately notified backlog reserved vacancies and leave vacancies. The medium of instruction at the University is English.

• Assistant Professor, Department of Law (Non-Law Subject - Economics), Silchar - 1 post (ST), Post Code SASTP0218 (subject specified via Corrigendum dated 8 June 2026).

• Professor: Academic Level 14 - Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200.
• Associate Professor: Academic Level 13A - Rs 1,31,400 to Rs 2,17,100.
• Assistant Professor: Academic Level 10 - Rs 57,700 to Rs 1,82,400.

Pay is admissible along with DA and other allowances as per UGC/Ministry of Education, Government of India rules.

Minimum qualifications, experience, specialization, reservation, service conditions and age of superannuation are as prescribed by the University/UGC and the regulatory body concerned (AICTE/NCTE/PCI, as applicable). The crucial date for reckoning eligibility (qualifications and experience) is the last date of online submission of applications, i.e. 10 July 2026. A relaxation of 5% is allowed at the Bachelor's and Master's level for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/differently-abled candidates as per UGC Regulations 2018. Candidates in service must apply through proper channel or enclose a No Objection Certificate from their employer.

A non-refundable application fee of Rs 1,000 applies for UR, OBC and EWS candidates. Women candidates and candidates claiming reservation against SC/ST/PWD vacancies need not pay the application fee, but must remit Rs 500 as postal expenses. Payment is made through the online payment gateway (internet banking/debit card/credit card). Fees once paid are not refundable.

Applications must be submitted online at the CU-Chayan portal (curec.samarth.ac.in) by 10 July 2026, 11:59 PM. A separate application is required for each post. After final online submission, candidates must download the application PDF, sign it, have it forwarded by their employer (if in service), and send the hard copy along with self-attested copies of all documents in a sealed cover super-scribed with the post applied for, campus and advertisement number to: The Deputy Registrar, Room No. 103, Raja Rammohan Roy Administrative Building, Assam University, Silchar - 788011, Cachar, Assam, by Speed Post/Registered Post/Courier only, so as to reach by the last date. Submission of the hard copy is mandatory.

Applications will be processed through duly constituted screening committees based on candidates' qualifications and departmental need. Mere fulfilment of eligibility does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview; the University may apply more stringent shortlisting criteria, including a written test, if a large number of applications is received. Call letters are sent only to shortlisted candidates. Candidates attending interviews for Professor/Associate Professor posts are reimbursed AC III tier train fare, and for Assistant Professor posts sleeper class train fare, by the shortest route on production of tickets. The number of vacancies is tentative and the University reserves the right to increase or decrease posts.

Three updates dated 8 June 2026 accompany the advertisement: a Corrigendum specifying the Assistant Professor post in the Department of Law (Non-Law Subject) as Economics (1, ST); a Corrigendum-I correcting the Assistant Professor vacancies in the Department of Education; and an Addendum detailing the Life Science & Bio-Informatics (Silchar) vacancies.
